LingLing
Project viewtopic.php?f=17&t=32712 Question: Very Very Urgent, I need alarm with immobiliser to get the insurance cheap etc. No need centra locking or any other fance staff. What Alarm and immobiliser should I get, that's reasonly price and also can meet the cheapest insurance requirment. I'm thinking to go with classical car cover insurance with 5000kms per year. as I won't drive it much. Fire away.
xsspeed
PM Andrew/R100 and see what he can do. Otherwise XS1V on toyspeed does AVS alarms I think.

felixx
AA insurance, their classic option has unlimited km, as long as it is not your daily driver or something It costs me $77 to insure the anglia, $4k cover, $100 excess
LingLing
what? 77 per year or month ? either way is cheap!
felixx
per YEAR man. Only downside is no glass cover
0R10N
For what it's worth, I found AA's classic option wasn't as flexible as Classic Cover in some areas, including but not limited to allowing you to elect a trusted panelbeater, proper glass cover (a MUST if you have something silly like my Skyline coupe... imagine trying to find a rear windscreen for one of those), and going on agreed valuations as opposed to market. Things could have changed since then though. Classic Cover didn't ask about alarms but I guess a four-star will be the minimum sensible option. Oh yes, R100, I forgot about his auto electrical biniss. Go see him for an alarm!
LingLing
No way 77 dollars. man.... by that calculation, if insure my car to 30g. I probably get 800 per year? still cheap as!! anyways, yeh I will ring around. sounds like I miss understood the insurance thing.

0R10N
Chris/EURON8 might have his contact details also. I'd be interested to see exactly how crisp the engine runs/car handles overall. sounds pretty well put together.
LingLing
just talked to andrew, he says cheapest one is 190 with immobiliser I am pretty happy with that. I will see if I can get andrew himself to do it lol!

mikuni
If you don't mind me asking, I'd be interested to know what an AE86 of this calibre is selling for at the moment?
LingLing
got classical cover quote: just under 600 per a year, for 30g value, 5000kms per yeah, but needs to be garaged. Ed is right, no need for alarm funny as. but would be a massive idiot to not put an alarm on this car.

xsspeed
Why insure it for 30k, thats not really an agreed value (ie done by a valuer), and they will just pay out at market rate. So stating its a 30k will just drive up your premium surely.
0R10N
Steve makes a good point actually... might pay to get it independently valued. mind you when Classic Cover prepared my quote I gave them two-year-old valuations I had for three of the cars (and 'sensible' values for the rest) but it didn't seem to affect the premiums in any way. They advised re-evaluating once the cars were all consolidated into one location too.
Vintage Grumble
Mines insured as a hot rod, min cover was 15K, costs me about $180 a year, cant do over 5000km a year, has to be in a shed, and I have to be car club member, which all suits me fine. IM SO EXCITED ABOUT PICS/SPECS!!
LingLing
the problem is ,if i want to import a car from japan to here just to get road legal will be minimun 11-12k i would say. all the parts worth I don't know. 7-8 ks maybe buy from new??? then, labor? probably 25g is better value tbh.
