had similar problems with carbs years ago on a trike project.

diaphram carbs need an airbox. found the origonal airbox worked best.

had the same with the speedway boys. they had tried everything to get their bikes to run well,

as soon as they put the origonal airbox on, fixed. no flat spots or over fueling.

dynojet kits and a k&n filter with bigger airbox intake got them 30% torque more than stock,

20% more hp also.

I spent about 5 yrs in a bike wreckers in chch, so saw this sort of thing all the time.

same for the sidechair tarmac guys too.

worth a go?

I got two set from ebay US eay on set cost $225 nz with frieght the other set cost $260 with a fuel pump that died after the first start up. So my advice buy form a big supplier so you can send back if not happy and make sure th neddle jet are adjustable.

Real nice esky Shane, I also like the green paint, was thinking of using the same kind of green on one of my cars.

Off topic for a sec but your avatar pic is taken at top of Omapere hill with Opononi Harbour/sand dunes in background. I grew up there.

I got my VG from Lower Hutt back in March-April this year, didnt look like that one above though. Its original colour scheme is light metallic green with white roof but I would prefer a darker green like yours, with metallic.

When I was living up north one of my mates had a Escort Sport, we all used to try and rally drive round the gravel roads in our cars (thats when I learnt that my falcon was no match for the Esky on gravel haha)

Nice Looooooovers. But will they make you faster on the track...?

Absolutely, they'll speed up airflow over the back of the car

Can get louvre clips from repco

Nah they've been discontinued, can't get em anymore. May be some residual stock around, but the supplier doesn't bring them in anymore.

Car is looking pretty choice 8)

Yeah was in Repco in the weekend and ordered a set 8am Monday they called to say they don't do them anymore. I haven't been able to find any stock so far. I have found some one on trade me but $6 each the louvers cost less than that.

As for faster on track days I'm working on a couple of things only need a couple of sec's to pass you max lol
