Hey Guys.

I'm slotting together another 202 and saw these pistons for sale. Problem is, I've never heard of the brand and they are extremely cheap. Look to be N.O.S but I was hoping somebody here could shed some light on the manufacturer and whether or not they are worth using. Possibly NZ made with the kiwi in the top corner?

hey mate trust uj`s judgement...indy 500 are made by a company in penrose akld called johnson piston rings...they manufacture both pistons and rings, and are of exceptional quality, i had many sets of rings for earlier models way back then..and were always cheaper.....no issues with quality though

Johnson Piston Rings = JPR. Funny that, I've been buying ACL parts through JPR for quite some time (through a friend of mine) and had no idea that they made their own brand. Yes, corner of Great South Road and Church Street, opposite Colourworks.

Johnson Piston Rings were originally called J&S Piston Rings, back in 1937. My father and grandfather started the business B Johnson & Sons Ltd, manufacturing motor engineers & grinding specialists. It was sited in Parnell Rise just above the railway bridge. The business was sold in the early 70s after my father died. I have been looking at an old brochure and saw the name J&S Piston Rings. I always knew them as Indianapolis 500 rings. Does anyone know when they were rebranded?
