I AutoCad up a sump tray bash guard, had it Water Jet cut out, at Advanced Sheet Metals here in Palmerston North.

Most of it was a bit of a guestimate.

9739614848_1275de4dd8_c.jpg

Bolted It up and it fits mint.

It is cut from 4mm High tensile Aluminium.

Super light and very rigid. Sits about 20mm lower than the sills/spoiler. So is the lowest part of the car.

If you think this may also work for your ke70, feel free to download the files below,

Sump bash tray.zip (183 KB)

Also Grabbed One of dads freshly cast gauge clusters. Its a very nice fit in place of the factory ashtray.

Will end up painting it satin black i think.

Have the catch can all welded up mounted and plumbed in.

Vacuum lines run from the outer throttle bodies, to a tank from a aw11, then from the tank to the booster.

Will be interesting to see how this works.

Dyno Booked in on friday with Keith Stewart.

Fingers Crossed i have remembered to do everything...

Dragged it out to Keith Stewarts today to be tuned

All went fairly well.

Can definitely recommend Keith @ dynopro.co.nz

Very knowledgeable and well priced.

Next is wheel alignment, wire up the horn/tachometer, figure out why the cooling fans are not working,

get it to the cert man and buy some more 14x7.5 wheels that somebody will be kind enough to offer me ;)

Got the bonnet back on today, Small Spacers on the hinges for a little extra clearance.

Fire Extinguisher all mounted in the back.

have the horn, window squirters and most of the lights working.

Need to take it to the electricians to see if he can figure out why the radiator fans are not working.

And to wire up the tachometer for me.

Then wheel alignment,

Then Cert?!?!

Is in at the electricians at the moment.

Electric fans are working again, must have knocked a plug out under the dash.

Dash cluster has been sent away. for the tacho to be adjusted, to work with the link.

They will also be looking at why the engine is only idling on 3 cylinders.

fingers crossed, i need this thing certed ASAP

Tachometer and other gauges are now working.

But all the electrician could tell me is that there is a problem with cylinder #3.

It is not the injectors or the spark, Thinks it may be vacuum leak?

Explains why it sounds like it idles on 3 and only made 96kw.

In other news it is now and Nick's getting a wheel alignment.

Another Boring Picture less update.

First up, a huge thanks to eke_zetec_RWD.

He came around today and tested the compression for me. All 4 cylinders are pretty similar.

And all with in, what the internet says, to be good compression for an altezza 3sge, of 10-13bar.

We eventually came to the conclusion that the two rear throttle body's where not quite as open as the front two.

Once we got the intake flow equal on all 4 cylinders, it idled much better.

It had to be something simple haha.

Next up is to change the clutch reservoir tomorrow, so i can buy and fit a PiperCross filter over top of the trumpets.

Today, i had a go of getting the altezza clutch master cylinder out of the way of the intake so i can try fit a filter of some kind.

Started by removing the remote reservoir.

10506885634_78930a5500_z.jpg

Then maching up a hose tail to match the shape of the reservoir. It pushes in, no threads.

10506861665_1b6a2d5049_z.jpg

Then made a plate to sit over the top and apply pressure to the hose tail.

10506879674_4833cced99_z.jpg

Managed to get it back in and bolted up.
Will look at mounting the remote reservoir tomorrow.

Before

And After

10528939835_da12e43974_z.jpg

Now there is a bit extra room i will be able to fit some filter socks on it.
I did want a filter dome to cover all of the trumpets but they are either to big or to small.

Clutch is all bled and working again.
Next will be buying the filter socks and installing the 4kg rear springs if they ever show up.

These turned up at work this morning.

4kg springs for the rear, and a magnetic sump plug.

10684797866_55eac327c4_z.jpg

So i left early and put them in.

Machined up some plastic hub centric rings.

Bolted it all back together.

And she was beached on the hoist.

10684749855_b32349b87b_z.jpg

It must be about 50-70mm off the ground.

Took it for a drive and nailing it down a fairly average country road, it scraped ALLOT.

Decided low static cars are not for me, when i still want it to be a tiny bit practical.

Will look at raising it a bit tomorrow.

Other than that she is ready for cert.

Raised it up, 15mm in the back 10mm in the front.

Took it for a drive, and great successes.

May still raise the back up a little more?

All ready for cert in Levin on Monday.

Although i think it may need a stronger clutch and definitely a retune now that its running better.

Had to shoot up to Auckland for work today so my Old man took the corolla for its cert with Andy Smith in Levin.
It Needs:
-Pcv Valve hooked back up for emissions :(

-Brake hose, can not be cable tied to strut.

-Crack test weld on strut, need to find the paper work.

-Thread depth holes on 4 link bars. 3mm holes drilled into bars at 24mm from end.

-Fuel tank cover 3mm plate. Tank is too low. 200mm minimum. measures 150mm to ground.

-Roll front fender lips.

All pretty easy stuff. And shouldn't cost to much more. May be a mission figuring out this stupid pcv valve though?

Brought some hose tails and vacuum hose to hook up to the PCV.

Drilled and taped the manifold as well as one of my old mans fuel blocks.

10880067973_6eca8543ae_c.jpg

Cut the hose to length and fit.

10880066133_399bb8d0a4_c.jpg

All works and seems to have a decent air flow through the valve.

A blacktop 4a-ge valve fits much better than the altezza one.

Ever since we bled the brakes before the tune, the left rear brakes have been stuck on.
At first we thought it was just the pads tight on the disc, and that it would make some room itself after a few drives.
After a dyno run and a few drives up the road, it turns out that the inner piston of the left caliper is stuck. The outer piston and both pistons on the drivers side seem to be sweet.

Will take them in to be checked and probably rebuilt on monday.

Left disc on the left...
11004910166_baece57e14_c.jpg

Might be another reason a few kw were missing from the dyno run??

Have also drilled holes into the 4 link control arms to check the threads on the rod ends are in at least 1.5 x the diameter.

Also attached the front brake lines to the struts using some metal clips i made up to replace the zip ties.

Have started on the bash guard for the fuel tank.

Its sooo close.

Long time no update. Sad times. Picture less update.

Volvo calipers were a bit rooted pitted pistons etc.
so have brought new calipers from the USA.
Factory replacements, Cressida for the front and Volvo for the back. Was going to be 12days before they could even post them. So counting down. Not long now hopefully.

Petrol tank bash guard is halfway there. Just needs some welds and figure out how to mount it.
Hopefully it doesn't look too homo, as it's pretty visible.

Other than that everything else is ticked off the certification to do list.

Doesn't look like there will be any New Years road trip in the corolla though :(

Got the petrol tank bash guard back.

Fits nice and snug.

has two metal straps at the other end to help hold it up.

Will paint it satin black tomorrow as i feel the alloy drop tank look doesn't work with the rest of the car.

That was the last thing left for certification.

Now just need to wait for the new callipers to show up :(

Sadly it dosnt look like she will be certed and cruising before the end of her 30th BirthYear.

Been cleaning small things up recently. Painting bits and pieces.

While waiting for the replacement brake calipers to show up from summit.

Finally got the email today. A whole month after i ordered them.

They have left Summit!

Pulled the old purple window Tint off today.

Also dyed the back seat, the vomit with corn and carrot colour it was before, didnt quite work.
