Hi nigel ... excellent write-up ... If I got third thumb, I'll give you all three thumbs up.

After went to l*xtreme where a few self-aclaimed 1uz expert seems to be more business oriented, I'm glad there are still some people here that would like to share their knowledge.

One thing that might be interesting for a lot of 1uz lover is how to manualise the auto transmission without additional transmission box (as in plainly connecting cables to push button/etc)

Do you happen to know or ever play with such configuration ? I read somewhere in 4x4 forum a while back (forgot the forum name) they simply use the cables from auto-trans solenoid and wired it up to the push button (sadly without details of wiring). Is this doable ?

Thanks nigel

here is link to example external transmission box that can do the job

http://www.gotech.co...&products_id=11

And here's the wiring manual (might help with the idea)

Cheers

Found this about solenoid configuration for A340E:

http://home.wjw.co.nz/Toyota/A340/19manualsh.pdf

So I just think about put some alternating push button, 1 for each position P,R,N,D,2,L and an ON/OFF O/D button on the dashboard (instead of lever).

If we cut the D cable to ECU and connect it to push button, how will it switch between gears ? will it stay in 1st ?

In short, is this doable? what will be the consequences ? (engine stall, etc ?)

Thanks for enlighten me ...

Thanks for your prompt reply nigel.

Your explanation does make sense and yes might be easier to buy that gotech unit.

Still, when got time will try to play around with it just to have some fun :)

Again thanks for your articles and for sharing your knowledge here.

Cheers

Thanks mate, but can't seem to find UCF11 ECU 26/16/22/26 pin config in there.

But my question is pretty basic.

I used diagram for 26pin (upsidedown plug) body loom ECU plug

Now I understood these as looking at the face of the plug, not the back of the plug, is that correct?

im putting a 1uz in my race car and i need to have an external power cut off switch.

would it be best to still have a per, anent power to the ecu ?(i understand they are a lerning ecu and will reset every time i turn it off otherwise)

one way valve. Crank case pressure release. If the rings fail and cause pressurisation in the crank case those valves release the pressure.

least, .. thats what a mate and I 'think' they are, but we could be wrong.

thanks mate I didn't know if I had to plum them into anything.
