anglia4
Yeah man that looks seriously lucky that it wasn't a fire. Pretty gutting though. How much of the loom is damaged?

BS5620
A lot of wires cause a lot of fires!!! Very lucky to find................Don't worry I think there a few of us out there that the car gods hate!!! Keep with it
felixx
haha BS5620, thats good advice, however they are the factory wiring. I had the charger on the battery as it was flat. Put it on charge at midnight when my missus got home. Went into the garage at 0900 so the charger was hooked up for 9 hours.
1337cookie
Hey just read your write up. I had a look since I saw you were looking at painting it in the tech forum. Ive always had a thing for angleboxes and thought I would mention Tony Butler, who owns Bultler automart. He has a thing for anglias and has a few out the back of his stanmore road shop. If you go in there looking for anglia parts ask for tony since he knows his stuff he can might even cut you a good deal too since hes a real nice guy like that. My name is Russell
Sounds spensive, how did they fix it? new loom or just splice it back together?
felixx
he did a bit of splicing, new solenoid and battery, have not got a bill yet.
felixx
Bill was $370 that was for solenoid, battery, wiring of ignition, lighting. New Lead to solenoid, etc Overall pretty fair i reckon. He even resoldered the connections to my headlights and aligned my headlights and a couple of other wee jobs
burrowssj
thats more than fair
My name is Russell
That's a decent price would have taken some time to fix i imagine
felixx
Phil is a good man. He just did it on quiet spells. It took a couple of weeks. I told him to take his time though.
Beaver
I vote for leave paint as is. cut some height of the roof racks and mount them. them get some wide steels and apply some slam (within reason). will look fucking awesome
felixx
Beaver. Nah she needs a nice paint job. She had one when I brought her 20 years ago. I like my cars to look tidy ish. Slamming it a couple of inches is the plan. (it takes the 2 things I have not got.. time and $$) Once I have enough$$ in my sock drawer Mr lovelady is going to widen my rims for me, then I will get em powdercoated dark grey
CUL8R
Haha yes yes I did, wasnt sure if you'd have recognised me in the new old whip.. Think you even got some tyre chirp! Made my day etc
felixx
I was restrained, getting chirp is easy on a RH Turn, heaps of body roll compensates for a huge lack of Horsepower! BTW loving your ride! Have you got a thread on here about it?
CUL8R
Not yet, awaiting till the night before the Nzdatsun cruise (sorta like the night before christmas but for closest datsun fiends)
Valiant
That's a milestone. I'm sure that we can make up a decent low buck lowering job for your car Felixx. Do you want these steel wheels as spares to get widened?
felixx
Hi Val, Give me a couple of months to get some $$ together, then I will take you up on the offer of lower car AND rims. Just treading water ATM. LOL
Valiant
Meh, just come get the rims, I don't want/need them. Yeah I will have a think about trickey budget lowering with out cutting the standard springs.
