UnVPesZ.jpg

Purlpe GLS under the Washing line is now accessible in front of this AP6 or AP4 Valiant, the last 70's Avenger I want to buy (the Diff I got in the early 2000's off it) & has been in My Rally car ever since

this Chysler Avenger

I have no interest in them but just keeping tabs :P there were two others I note have gone, Blue one I tee'd up for a guy in Hamilton when Wilf was still around & a Brown one close the drive has gone since

slightly better shot of it, impact damage is to the front of it

Odometer 104084'ish

Mad brake fade so new booster hose, didn't fix it so Brake booster swap time

Old one had fluid in it and managed to find the one out of my original '78 Avenger that I rolled and scrapped in 2007 (image attached)

Much better

They've relisted them so looks like they have a few sets to clear our

Not going to bother with the road car / cert just yet

and I'm basing it on this build from the www.Avenger.co.nz Forums

Had success today, bmw rotors worked well.
All that was needed was to have .65mm removed from the bore of the rotor and then re drilled.
Also had to put a 5.5mm spacer behind the wheel bearing for the back of the rotor to clear the lugs on the strut.

Luckily my 13 inch alloys still clear aswell, dropped straight on with about 4mm clearance.

have also just been informed about uprating the rear Cylinders to match otherwise risk them being over worked

anyone have any better info or specs to match?

Application will likely be Track based activities for the Racecar & less Gravel / rally

options for 5 speeds? other than the usual Sierra type 9 (almost bolt in)

happy to chuck a spare 4 speed back in but while its out.. well you know... :D

So a guy from Taupo gets in touch, He's restoring his Mk 1 Avenger (Have learnt in the UK they refer to them as Mk1's & Mk2's for the Classic shape & Chrysler / Later shape)

Has misplaced some very important Plastic pieces for the accelerator peddle & would I mind checking my 'stock'

So I Send him images of these two (Brown 72 1500 & Blue 76 GLS Apline)

WoV2HJ6.jpg

7BdAWvL.jpg

and this location of the stuff he might need

zcqetCW.jpg

nHEiqqB.jpg

and my Accelerator pedal for comparison

YVqzMFu.jpg

Man says YEP the green bits & oh my yours have already been lost, I had seen the "U shackles" before & thought thye were not right and they allow a fair bit of slop but are working for now so I can spare at least one set of Bushes / set of 5 plastic pieces he needed

then he sent me an image of his car

x6LRAfr.jpg

Oh LOL TWINS! Auto even

SO I get to stripping, the easiest one, instructions were remove the seat & steering wheel to get better access

l8IFkY6.jpg

Jobs already half done on this one

Figure while I'm at it might as well strip a few other goodies out of it

NQ4gfoW.jpg

Headlight switches, What does the internal turner do? (serious never had one or played with a working one)

VYwADw5.jpg

Lol Shear bolts on Ign 'not sheared'

SqBYhKe.jpg

Dash not bad, lol no rev counter in Manual? not even a Clock!

QMgmSBk.jpg

sEI4mmF.jpg

Light fitting in the glove box! What is this madness! (checked My GLS & it only has a 'hole')

odesYAj.jpg

So dash out & rescue these parts, so at least I know how to get them out of the brown car should my U shackles fail

lavGMZJ.jpg

Might be worth 3d Printing some one day though not expensive from UK from the sounds of it

Back of the Dash

Okc4hog.jpg

31? or 13

4HpUu7q.jpg

got looking at the Dash & LOL 4 digit Odometer? WTF

culyHHi.jpg (turn screen)

So I have a thought as my Coolant temp gauge is iffy & my Volt meter had lost its lettering why not rob / swap some parts over

aPHLEmE.jpg

was Simple enought, 1st test drive I had forgotten to plug speedo back in LOL

even from the same year its crazy to note the differences on the back

Mine is the Left Blue car / donor is the right

SR0QAV5.jpg

so yeah, Coolant temp works better now & My Volt Gauge says" Volts" and I figured out why the Handbrake warning light doesn't work : there is not circuit in the loom for it! may get around to that one day

all looks normal in there

27783180_10156024356212456_1832600518_n.jpg.afed672b8d5599491b9ad2303d96fc4b.jpg

(not the socket I used to move the selector fork)

some random markings on the 1300 Box that originally came out of my '78

Decided it was time to do something

So on the hoist she went, easier to refill the gearbox there & a basic check-over

Found some stuff that needs sorting before we go too much further in the front end, will await report tomorrow!

Was hoping to make the Playday @ Manfeild on the 13th of May

& I aint an engineer so she's going back on the lawn for a bit :/

everything else appeared fine / in working order, just don't go fast or hit the brakes, things move on both sides in this area

Anyone wanna buy a race car? never been thrashed!

Gees Rego is cheap these days! $47.90 over the counter for 12 months!

no pic update not much to see here, keen on a spare Neutral / Inhibitor switch tho if anyone has ever dealt with these to suit a BW45, I have a couple of "spare" that are dud's & might try Jimmy these up to do the correct things

Oh yeah and my "new" windscreen rubber has gone like this in all 5 corners, granted its 3 years old now but less than ideal

Spike to glazier & yea they not proud of of it & they tried the supplier who didn't want a bar of it, so yeah at this stage aiming to fill it with silicone to stop leaks
