Some Pics of the subframe rebuild that is currently in the process of being completed. Been smooth sailing so far.

Using Kit from USA and will be buying a few more bits and pieces for steeting etc soon.

Big thanks to Hamish for the dedicated hours so far.

Lots of photos but I know most people here believe the more the better.

Enjoy

The whole frame finally out after quite a few hours. Reason it took longer than expected was the large number of unnecessary bolts that we took out before relising that they weren't going to help get the subframe out (suspension, torque tube etc) due to the lack of manuals and guides. About 3 hours in total for the subframe itself

Most things are bolted back up now, having some issues with the left hand rear brake, cant for the life of me bolt up the handbrake, i could hardly get the caliper on itself, thinking something wrong with piston. Bleed the brakes and going to run in the pads to see if that fixes anything.

Diff oil is in as well just waiting for the drag link to come back from the engineers then ill be able to take it in for a major wheel alignment.

Some pictures of the new trust exhaust, as you might be able to tell i was going for a "stock" ish look for now. Also started repairs on the front kit myself as quotes to get it fixed where ridiculously pricey.

I was too upset to leave the 3 piece off any longer, i just want it back on the car so will do my best to stick it back together using a range of glues, bogs and a big reinforcing bar haha

Just a couple more things ive been upta on the starion in the last couple days, began glassing the front kit up, getting it structurally secure, and installed central locking!!!!! It wasn't the most pleasant of tasks thats for sure, and the kit wires weren't long enough for each door so, double or triple the soldiering

Guy off trademe forgot to put the acutator rods in so I made my own outa bike spokes FTW

Quite a while sorting out previous owners, "quick jobs" and mess in the wiring department

Finally have almost finished my kit, It has had an undercoat , so i thought I would try fit it to the car. Fits on ok considering it was in 3 pieces and was put back together by hand etc. Had to saw off the bolts on the very front when I removed it months ago as at the time couldn't figure out how to get it off haha, so therefore I can't reattach it there at the moment.

If any one knows how to properly remove a front piece like this let me know ie, where the bolts should be etc. (its got 2 cable ties and 3 orginal bolts atm )

Anyway here are some pics!

  • 5 months later...

Hired a rug doctor this weekend to do my cars and my friends as well. Such a rewarding job specially when you see what comes out. Really good to do every 6months or 12. I thought my starion was relatively clean as i'd had the carpet out multiple times and vacuumed lots.

Managed to fit in the house too cause had stuff left over :D
