Ok, you win. Your Celica is clearly rustier than mine. Not by much.

Starting to take shape though, not much room for the radiator from the looks.

You would think so aye! It's fucken ridiculous how many panels looked legit but were pretty much made of bog. That photo with the 20mm bog isn't even the thickest on there. I think they put it on after wiping the car down with salt water too.

Haha I'm making sloooooow progress though, it'll all be cut out eventually!!

@Leeky1: THe engine actually sits about half a foot further back and a bit lower too, it was just fouling on the steering. It's all set up for rack and pinion now so fits fine. Just wanna get a power steering rack instead of the manual one i've got, otherwise 3point turns will SUCK!!

Won't need power steering if you run 145-15's off a SMART car

This thing gets more awesome every time the thread gets updated.

The single most awesome part about this build is that you can cruise down the road covering people in diesel smoke.

so its gonna get a WOF eventually?

Cool project! love that you deleted the gutters- its probably the part i hate most about older cars- they all look 100X better without it.

Nah I made the patch fit pretty much exactly (with a hell of a lot of trial and error) and butted them up. Didn't want ANY overlap cos that's where it rusted in the old floor.

Dunno if it'd be structurally sweet without all the bumpy bends etc in the floor, but the new metal is so unbelievably thick that it's way more rigid now. The passenger side floor has heaps of flex in it, the drivers patch has barely any!

Thin discs explode all the time dude, any brand, a full face mask is ideal but they aren't very cool

Yeah, I reckon it's better to look awesome right before half your face gets ripped off, than to be safe but look like a fag!

Nah I've taken to wearing an old welding mask with the tint glass removed. Makes me feel like i'm in fallout 3 or something.

sorta depends on how it goes down with the cert guy. my mates escorts floor has had new patchs in the floor/ trans tunnel and he was told by the cert guy to have a 20mm overlap. if yours wasnt so cbad you could hide it but you probably wont be able to expecially now that you made new seat belt anchors.

or are ya just guna hide it anyway and not tell nobody
