Actually got sweet F.A. done this weekend.

Friday got the battery mounted in boot & that's about it due to being drunk from thursday still 8)

Saturday pulled out dummy block, mounted coils, sorted fuel & oil fittings & hoses.

Still waiting on the fuel rails to come back from engineers.

Mocked up new radiator in the mounts we had modified on the original, wont fit with the factory electric fans, so will have to get some aftermarket slim fans.

Spent most of saturday afternoon doing NOTHING. Was waiting on the block to be finished.

Finally picked up block at 5pm saturday night, went to drop it in & found that there was no spigot bearing in the E-shaft  so called it a day.

Workshop was shut yesterday so no more progress.

Hopefully today I can get hold of a spigot bearing & drop the block in tonight after work. This & the fuel rails are the major holdups.

  • 3 weeks later...

Almost got her done before new year's then stores decided to close / I decided to drink for 2 weeks straight.

Worked out how to retain my power steering & aircon, so a little bit of works gone into that.

Have had to wait for some places to re-open (Today).

Also had to source a second hand loom for plugs (air temp, water temp, crank angle sensors etc.) as my old ones were brittle as.

So just a little fab work to be done, however, had to take car out of workshop due to customer's cars having priority, so will keep cracking away at her slowly.

Would say possible start up saturday, with it driveable sometime next week.

  • 1 month later...

Aite, so this things in dry storage at the moment. Moved outa my old flat into a nicer area / house. However, no room at my new place to work on it.

Had a wee (massive) hold up on the wiring.

However, loom is finished & ready to plug in. (Only the 2 crank angle sensors plugs to sort)

Left to do:

Dash gauge wiring

Bolt on Intake

Plug in loom

Find a S6 Alternator bracket

Bolt on ancillaries

Run vacuum lines

run water hoses

Fill with oil, water, Powersteering Fluid

Bleed Brakes, Clutch & Powersteering

Check for leaks

Maybe start it up...

Red is faded from sitting in the sun for 2 years after previous owner blew the clutch.

Yes will be getting new wheels when I can afford them. Painting those centres is just a quick jobbie (simple green to clean them, mask & bomb black. Managed to avoid any runs in the paint though. paint will probably wash off of the 1st wet day i drive it.

These in white or bronze have caught my fancy:

Have also removed front kit and will be slapping on the factory bumper for now.

Slight hiccup, cant seem to find anyone who makes alloy mounts for radiator fans, so will have to make some up on the laithe on saturday.
