Roman Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Top work! Insane to have it going that well on just first runs. Pity its hard to quantify the difference of the raised port on its own. But either way its awesome. Quote
kpr Posted February 17 Posted February 17 yeah ideally a head with the same work bar the high port stuff, to test it against would be good. Will probably happen in the future if it keeps heading in the right direction. If i can get it a bit closer to the starlet, will be good enough indication to cut up the big valve head. red trueno . others are starlet , both running same 4-2-1 headers. both not run in 1:1 gear. about 13kw difference in peak power. if can get that under 10kw. let the butchery commence 3 Quote

Truenotch Posted February 27 Posted February 27 How does the shifter feel with the forward relocation? Most of the ones I've seen have issues with overthrowing the reverse gate. Not sure if that's just cause lots of boxes have sloppy reverse lockout restrict bolts, or if it's a feature of the relocation kits. My shifter is in the normal forward location for an Altezza and it doesn't get stuck in the reverse gate. Is the KP still running a T50? Quote
kpr Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Feels good. no issues with reverse gate, I think half the problem with the relocated ones is they make it a "short shift" at the same time and screws things up a bit. the factory throw is good imo. mine i kept everything low as possible to the box case, so could tuck the box high as possible in tunnel. in doing so is also less weird leverage angles on the shifter shaft. kp still t50 yeah. can tell straight away the j160 ratio's are a big advantage. The giant bellhousing on them is a pain in the arse, so no plans to swap one into kp. 1 Quote
Tiger Tamer Posted September 30 Posted September 30 The bell housing I bought for the Honda K20a to a Toyota R151 gearbox for the Hillman Minx project was from Niteparts. It had been over machined and loaded up the crank thrust bearing. I had to make up a spacer that went between the box and bell housing. It would pay to check it. Might not have anything to do with Niteparts themselves but may be made from the same place. Quote
kpr Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Did you talk to brendan about it? hes a good dude, sure he would have sorted it out. Quote
4dori Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Second that, Brendan definitely would be all ears if you reach out, he is very onto it. Quote
Tiger Tamer Posted Thursday at 03:52 Posted Thursday at 03:52 No I didn't talk to Brendon about it as I bought the bellhousing 5 years ago and we only discovered the issue recently when we were getting ready to start it, so I just made up a spacer. I have no problem with Niteparts or Brendan because I am sure he has helped me out with the correct parts when needed in the past and was great to deal with. When I had the car at the tuners for the initial ecu download and start, and it started to slow right down when trying to turn it over, it was one of the first things he said could be the problem. They have found that some of the locally made bellhousings have been over machined and putting strain on the crank thrust. In my case he was right. Hopefully no damage done. 2 Quote
