Yo dawg we heard you liked axle stands……….

I don't blame him really. Those stands can be a bit touchy when setting them. I've got some off cuts of Macrocarpa sleepers under the rear wheels while it is on stands. Just incase.

Mate died last week when his truck fell on him.

Sorry to hear, not something thats great to go through

I remember wrenching on my Skyline with my friend Matt, who eas also working in one of his (hes a diesel mechanic now) and going around putting axle stands under when he was already under a jacked up car.

I remember telling him, this his partner didnt need to come home and find him crushed.

Id been lucky at a younger age and had a car fall off a jack and been ok, it was a factory height car and I was thin.

Scary as hell and a big reminder for people to no get complacent

There's plenty of people using tank liners long term in motorbike tanks with amazing results. Car tanks are way trickier to descale and treat though... Especially when they're baffled.

We've put a POR15 liner kit through Dad's AE86 tank and he's driving it today (for the first time in 10 years). Not sure how it'll go long term, but it looks pretty well sealed right now.

This is while it was still wet and curing:

I put a POR15 kit through my KP tank after modifying it, to treat the haggard old metal, seal the newly installed metal and give me some future proofing.

It's not a fun job and it's quite tricky to ensure even and thorough coverage. Not to mention making sure it is absolutely bone dry internally after descaling.

However, 4 years and 15,000km later everything is fine with no blockages or scuzz in the filters. The tank is due to come out for some other reasons so I'll update after inspection if the lining is not holding up.

good to hear some success with it.  I have  a kbs   kit here.      think i'll run the first part through it while bottom of tank its still cut out,  so have better access to clean it out

I did the tanks in the Sunbeam Tiger with POR15 fuel tank sealer. I did get the tanks cleaned out professionally at a company that did plating as they had caustic tanks to leave them in which removed the old sealer etc. Then I followed the por15 instructions and used their materials, and that was approx 12 years ago. One tank had pin holes and larger holes which (as recommended by por15) I soaked some cloth in the sealer and put it on the outside of the tank to cover the holes. I removed that tank a couple of weeks ago and from what I can see of the inside and the cloth patches, all is well. Happily use it again and have done now in two other car tanks.

Alternator bracket looks great.

Are you planning a bigger Alternator pulley, I always feel a bit sorry for honda Alternator driven off the crank at ~1:2 ratio and I'm only just dusting 9000 rpm occasionally.

I did kill the original early 90s one at an event 5 years ago but it's replacement chinesium thing has been a trooper.

Yeah will probably do the same as whats on the starlet.   Since some 4age specialist thinks an underdriven pulley is worth double the price of a stock sized one.    I found the franklin  per  fd rx7 pulley fits with their spacer. for half the price of said "specialist" .

There is also a bigger one that  fits straight on off some old toyota.  but couldn't find one last time i looked.   the denso alternators of that era are pretty lego spec.
