OSM Garage Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Does anyone know what the diff ratio is on a GSR EX Lancer? Its a non LSD guy. Ive got a Sigma 10 bolt diff head, and thats 4.1. Are there many other diff ratios to pick from for these diff housings? Is 4.1 good, or will i be running out of legs quick? Quote
Ogre Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 i got a 4.2 i think in my ex lancer, the gearbox in the GSR has a slightly higher 5th than the sigmas, normal 5 speed mitsi stuff.I had a GSR that had the 4.2 LSD diff and it was fine, although theres like 200rpm difference at 100km between 4th and 5th lol.ive heard of ppl running 4.5s in the rally versions but i think that be to short for road use.as long as ya reving less that about 3500rpm at 100km then they will still be good on fuel Quote
fuel Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 the sigma wagon diff I had was 3.909 ratio, that was for a 5sp manual 2L 1984 model - wonder why your one was 4.1. Usual Mitsi ratios are 3.545, 3.909 and 4.1. Quote
OSM Garage Posted December 7, 2008 Author Posted December 7, 2008 FUEL = THE MAN KEVINATOR = RETARD! Sorry for the incorrect information. The sigma 10 bolt diff is INDEED 3.909 (Your the shit Fuel!) It was the 8 bolt lancer diff that i got mixed up, which is actually 4.2. Are the 3.545 rare as hens teeth? Quote
fuel Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 3.545 is more common on the more powerful mitsis. Mine originally had a 3.545 until I put the 3.909 in it - some Starions have 3.545 diff also. Unsure if any live axle diffs used the 3.545 ratio. 3.545 is used on the E39A VR-4 also. Quote
Ogre Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 i got a feeling that alot of l200 are 3.587y34875873465873465837 whaetever?I may be wrong but everytime i been in one they rev pretty low, like 2500 at 100k Quote

Brock-Lee Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 are you sure libero gt's are live rear end? i thought it was the same rear end as a gsr, which i thought was irs.... Quote
Raizer Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Yeah there solid rear from all I have read Should hit a diff from a Libero EV lol Quote
H05TYL Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 are you sure libero gt's are live rear end? i thought it was the same rear end as a gsr, which i thought was irs.... yup, sure. Thats why you don't to see too many of them very low, panhard rod runs out of adjustment. I have a compleate Libero GT disk to disk rear diff bought as a spare but willing to let it go for the right price Located in sydney. Libero GT rear diff has 3.5 gear ratios. includes pan hard rod, calipers, disks, & L&R lower trailing arms Quote
Ke36 Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 ive got a 4.3 hilux in mine at the mo mang when i rebuild the lsd head guna swap it out for either a 4.1 or a 3.9 depending on what i find/price the accel is mean with it but probbly a bit short as ur grabbing 2nd then 3rd reall quick and it sucks if you wanna go 100ks Quote
OSM Garage Posted December 8, 2008 Author Posted December 8, 2008 So 3.9 is a pretty good ratio? Not too short, or long? How is the EX going Ke36? Quote
4G61BO Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 ok im new to this site im trying to find out some info on diffs first question is what do the 3.909 ratio solid rear diffs come out of and if the internals fit in a libero diff head im building a 1988 cyborg and want to put the 3.909 ratio in help would be appreciated. Quote
fuel Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Sigma wagon has 3.909 solid rear diff, the crown wheel is about 7.5" or thereabouts. I would imagine the GT Libero and Cyborgs run smaller diffs being 4WD? Quote
OSM Garage Posted February 17, 2009 Author Posted February 17, 2009 Ive heard that the libero diffs fit oldschool mitsi RWD. Not too sure how true this is. I was on the look out for a GT Libero for an LSD. Id like to know if this is fact. Quote
4G61BO Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 aww ok so the diff heads are a different size dam haha ruffly whats the width of the whole diff head and axles Quote
