today Spencer gave me a hand to get the plug leads through the pipe and that went pretty well. a bit of lube down the pipe and they slid through pretty easily.

after that Nick the sparky came over and we cut the leads to length and he re-crimped the ends on. we then put some fuel in the carbs and it ran.

sounds really good and seems to be going nicely. needs tuning obviously but its running.

that is all.

somehow my car ended up at the end of my road.

its pretty sweet to drive apparently, accelerates well (for a 2M) and sounds great. brakes are poos but everything is new so thats to be expected.

need a heavier return spring on the throttles and i need to adjust the steering lock and the panhard rod. which i will do now.

other than that its feels sweet. not that its gone far but still, first drive is successful.

that something has consisted mainly of getting the door shuts ready for paint.

as you can see the rust situation is pretty minimal, which is a good thing. in fact its a great thing. so ill wack some primer on it through the week with the goal being painting it next weekend if the weather permits.

also we have done more electrical wizardry in that i now have tail lights, brake lights, reverse lights and indicators.

with a bit of luck this time next week it will be painted and i can put the doors back on.

yea, so it didn't rain today and it was sunny.

its still cold as buggery and i had a couple of runs and a few issues with it being so cold but shes all primed and it looks good.

first time using my new spray gun and its a million times better than the old hand-me-down piece of crap i was using.

its so cold ou there that the 2 pot primer is taking ages to go off. ive been warming it with the heat gun and thats helped. i just hope its sunny tomorrow.

plan is to try and get the blocking back started tomorrow night.

doors aligned and the front guards are back on for the final time (i hope).

i had to paint the little tags that clamp the guards to the bottom of the A pillar because i forgot about it.

the bonnet is just sitting there to see if the gaps look right between the front guards and the bonnet and it looks pretty good.

stuff has been done.

but i don't have any pictures because theres not much to take pictures of really.

the bonnet, front lower valance, rear lower valance and windscreen scuttle panel have been acid dipped and primed.ive got the 3 small panels straight and fitting the car where they are supposed to.

ive replaced the glue that holds the bonnet to the frame and the shape of the top looks pretty good. it had some led in it along one edge but its not looking to bad.

its primed and ready for some colour on its underside as are the hinges. ill probably paint the inside of the bonnet and the hinges this week depending on the weather.

also did a bit more on the wiring. all the front things now work, headlights, horns, alarm siren and would be radiator fan except the adjustable temperature sensor that is supposed to turn the fan on and off was faulty so im getting another one.

and finally i cut all the bosses that i didn't need off the rocker cover and welded up the holes and its being re-powdercoated now.

ill put up some pics when i get it back.
