My name is Russell
Progress just decreased significantly ... because of two reasons The 1st being that i managed to break my toe bloody vice feel of the bench and munched my middle toe. So cant stand up for longer that 10min at the moment grr. 2nd reason ... RUST This area was one of those ... when is the bog going to end situations! Sills and floor pan has already been chopped out just need to weld them up and try not warp everything. This is probably the most concerning area for me Rust along the pillars gutter ... any tips on how to make a nice job of them? can see them being very tricky. Oh Hai box! And i haven't looked in all the places i know escorts get rust yet
My name is Russell
Not really much of an update. 15x8 Wheels on there way Extra wide rear bubble arches on there way (90mm overall) Front pulley had an extra notch for modern air conditioning stuff...waste of space Before After Removed disk brake setup from the new 5 studd axles, small mission. Then ground of the steel brackets the leaves used to sit on top of ... mega grinding mission! now time to remove the current diff and test fit this one for what ever I decide i need to do next. ... U bolts i guess ... hmm One FE down
My name is Russell
Small patch of rust fixed (still to be trimmed down more) Tacked in place, all centered etc Old IC was slightly to big so did a swaparoo 5 stud hubs, AP calipers and vented disks. Question ONE AP spacer kits for vented disks, how thick should the spacer in the center be? the ones that came with mine calipers are 20mm, which looks to wide? Question TWO My Capri strut (drivers side strut) My mk2 Strut (passengers side strut) The converted 5 studd hubs i have fit on my mk2 struts, but not my capri struts, so i would prefer to use the mk2 struts, i will be converting which ever struts i use to coil overs to get the car nice n low and have a little adjustment. However Gaz mentioned that you can put spacers on the bottom of the capri struts to drop the traction control arm which im guessing i may need to do in my search for lowness and to avoid bump steer. So from removing and placing the two next to each other as above i cant see any difference between the two and why you couldn't just do the same with the mk2 struts? Basically what are the advantages of the Capri struts and can i do the same with the mk2 struts? Cheers OS boes
My name is Russell
Started tinkering with the clutch 5/8 Master cylinder Bracket made and mounted to the box. Welded a bolt onto the end so that i have some adjustment. Using mk2 struts etc now so tidied up this mk2 rack. New boots, polished it up and a coat of fresh paint. Most the stuff i should need to make adjustable Iv got a feeling the springs are going to be to stiff Need to get shocks next. Had some U bolts made, VERY heavy duty! Started working on the mk2 loom again. Got + - power going to the loom Headlights going on full wind wipers going number plate light going brake lights going Wiring is my least favorite job! Iv got two new 205 50's and two of gaz's 185 50's to try on them. two rear bubble arches being made in CHCH still that will make the car an EXTRA 90mm wider to standard bubble arches
My name is Russell
Welded up the old U bolt holes and drilled new ones for the larger diameter bolts and wider diff. Started modifying the struts ... strangely the struts have different diameters, one of them, and the threaded sleeve slid over perfectly the other doesn't so will try find a cheap hone and remove about 0.5mm from the inside of one of the sleeves. Anyone come across this before?
My name is Russell
The 2nd strut is all assembled now. Cant do anything more on them until the wheels arrive then i can dummy up the ride height i want. Test fit the flares at the height i want them. Buy two good quality shock absorbers the correct length etc, gaz I'm hoping you know what to do there to give me advice. Then get the sleeve welded in place and thats the front struts done ... i think Tomorrow i will tidy up the TCA's and sway bay. Have some polyurethanes for the eylets and at the brackets of the swaybar. Also going to have a go at folding up a central support for the swaybar to add a 3rd brace. Got some fancy boost gauge ... i was going to run all Smiths gauges but i think i prefer these smoked screen ones, i don't think the photo does it justice. But then again Smiths are allot more period hmmm decisions.

My name is Russell
Made brackets for one of the 1/4 bumper ... Arrr I always loose my patience when i have to do something twice so trying to get motivated to do the other side Picked up wheels this morning The rear is 3" lowered and hitting the guard, so will get the leaves re set 2" and then run 2" lowering blocks. Hopefully the flares arrive Monday! The flares sitting 2" lower, as i intend to fit them. Will also fit some spacers to bring them out an inch or so. The front wheel is sitting so that the TCA is sitting dead flat ... any ideas on how i can raise the strut and not have the arm in the upward direction and get bump steer? My name is Russell
The extra wide rare flares arrived! And amazingly my measurements have worked out perfectly! The wheels fit and there will be enough room for the disks. The bottom needs to come out in this picture so that the face of the flare is vertical
