Brock-Lee
started cutting the rear of the ute today. That bracket was for the OG massive as balls bumpstop. This was hitting the diff heaps as so I cut it off Oh Hello big hole in chassis rail Will cut a notch into rail after I get springs made up and shit. Brock-Lee
/so this is a boring as fuck update. So I cut the massive spring mount towers off the chassis today and then just welded the pivot tube to the chassis rail and proceeded to build a box around it to make it all strong like. That thing^... Became that^... Which became that^ And I dont have the photos of the next bit.
Brock-Lee
Welded it up today. Took a blurry photo so my welding looks better etc. Now with no blocks a 155/55/14 sits just inside the guard line. So a small block to get me where I want will be lush as balls. as for clearance at this height I have already cut off the bump stop bracket and will need a small notch to get enough/hopefully enough travel haha. That is 50mm clearance at the moment and I can hopefully pull another 30-40mm out of the rail. See what happens once I make some blocks
Brock-Lee
made blocks out of wood and then g clamped the spring/diff/block together because my U bolts wouldnt fit. Boom/with a 20mm cut from chassis and new bumpstop mounts I can have 60mm travel at that height/go 20mm lower and have 40mm travel/tuck 14's/ /be famous like zeb Still have ~60-70mm clearance to lowest point on chassis but my gearbox and xmemebr etc sit pretty low. Anyways, just doing some calcs now to see what I can cut the rail down to and still have enough guts/the same as factory strength.
Brock-Lee
Sup. Mocked up the cross member and struts today. Notice the baked bean tin spacer. Made oyut of whatever happened to suit ^that is how much Id need to shorten that shock to get it to work haha. New shocks are on the way and a complete new setup is in the pipeline. Also. geometry. Brock-Lee
This is what I ended up with after way too long lying underneath and measuring things/scratching my head/arse. A quick tidy up and some paint and the rear is finished yaaaaay. Now its time to wait for another year for the next update haha EDIT: It looks like the worlds smallest notch in those photos but after a lot of thinking the main reason was to strengthen the rail so it could take a bumpstop load. After removing the bracket and the small cut I made I gained ~30mm. a heap of work for not that much but when your playing with fuck all travel it made a huge difference haha.
