escort mk1 Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Well here is my mk1 esocrt! after our big trip to blenheim we bought her back on the trailer we investigated further and found more rust. e.g. floor an, both guards, wheelarchs, and sill. Finally i sent her of to the pannel beaters and she is currently rust free and bogged in the shed. Any suggestions on the colour a very much wellcome as i have no idea as of yet. lol. I have striped the engine and am currently rebuilding it now. I plan to convert the front struts and steering collumn to hte mk2 disk breaks and chuck in a booster in there to. will keep photos ubdated. Next job put the engine back together and put the new struts and and get it painted! Not sure if i should paint it my slef or get a profesional to do it! your thoughts? Quote

escort mk1 Posted October 7, 2006 Author Posted October 7, 2006 Well just a update at where im at, have the engine out and have had it the block and head acid bathed and bored 40 thou. I got the crankshaft polisheda and the cam ground and polished and cam bearings fitted. Last w/e i painted the engine ford blue. Today i laped the velves and put them in and put the new rings on my new shiney pistons. going to find some extractors and get a new exhaust some time and am looking for a webber carb. Im moving into town in 6 weeks so il be able to prep my car for the new paintjob. Cant wait!!! I won't put the engine in untill i get the whole car painted. too much effort taking it in and out all the time. I got a new clutch plate and clutch flange cover. put some photos of my engine up later tonight. Quote

They're performance 13 by 5.5 i think!. Need to find some good center caps though. ALso ive stripped the mk2 wreck at the back of the yard so i have some front struts with half decent breaks and a new steering rack for the mk1 and today i i took my whole front end of ready for sanding! ive lined up a gut at avon city ford to paint my car one w/e so all i have to do is prep it! well i'll put some photos up of the car now. wasn't santa nice!
