when (why) are you doing this anyway? and why not put in your trade-mark engine... lexus V8 :P

Just doing it because it seems like a simple conversion, keeping it old school and keeping it ford aswell.

Thanks everyone for all your input , its always great to be able to come on a forum, ask a question and get a whole heap of good advice,

will post up pics of the conversion aswell.

It is a good increase in power from standard. I went from 1600 to 2l and was amazed at differance, mainly in torque. And also it is as easy as it is said.

No one here has actually done a mint sump conversion, that i have talked to. (apart from actuall rs2000 items) If you were to take the measurments as you did it and post them it would be much apreciated. The actual RS2000 sumps have wings on the side to add extra oil volume. Good idea if moding the 2l up but not needed if standard.

yeah, lots of people run oil coolers and remote filters to increase oil holding capacity when running a 2L in an escort. Large capacity oil filters are readily available.. I believe repco list them as Falcon filters but they are the same thread and diameter.

Thats a good idea with the larger filter, I start the conversion next wednsday 16th or november.

Just pulled the motor and box out of the sierra today. Will do the same to the escort next week.

The little mk2 escorts going to get a make over, new wheels, shocks, springs, exhaust etc etc. Im looking forward to it.

you should make over the engine while you are at it, a little bit of money goes a long way with a pinto. You might be disappointed if you just stick a stocker in there...

even a cam, a port and some twin 45's would be a start.

I has crossed my mind, but we wont do it, as with most things we just dont have the budget.

I can get you a mild ported head for $300.. makes a huge difference to the pints. Cam off the Kelford shelf if only about $150. Set of extractors and some bigger jets for the 32/36 would be fuck all..

yeah that all makes sence, maybe its somthing we can look into at a later date, purchased a set of off the shelf headers yesturday especially for the 2 liter to escort conversion.
