So my car is at the panel beaters now, they are moving in 3 months so it will be done in that time, I've picked my colour, its blue'er than Olympic Blue but based on it.

In the meantime I've started to repaint/get quotes/ buy new stuff for the puss bucket. I've bought a ea falcon throttle body, nothing else fuel related at the moment but I'll start doing more research into that

a minor update, me and dave went to look at the car on saturday, I hadnt seen it since end of last year, approximately nothing had been done on it...

But on the other hand, the guy said that I could have the car back for free(probably done about $1000-$1500 of work), so I need to ponder what to do next(I have no where to store the car currently), but I now think the obvious thing is to look elsewhere, so anyone know a good panel beater in auckland :P

its certainly been a while, found it on page 7

have been generally cleaning random bits and have now got some bike carbs and manifold, thanks eke_zetec

not mounted properly but you get the idea

getting there slowly, i think i'll do the main wiring next, whcih pretty much involves rewiring the whole car, lucky i dont have much wires(comparitively), at the moment engine mounts dont quite work properly, as seen in the tech thread, but other than that, it went in relatively nicely, clutch aligning tools are fucken awesome, worth the $10 definately. also, while it wasnt too hard to put in, i would definately recommend looking into installing it as a single unit with the engine, gearbox and xmember all bolted together, it would have helped me alot knowing that the mounts not lining up, but also means you dont need to be slamming the gearbox on under the car all cramped up etc, anyway, some pics

hardly an update, but finally done my wires hidden under the gaurds and I think it looks quite tidy.

I used rivnuts, which are awesome little things, steel p-clips(spendy, but nicer than plastic) and drilled out a hole for this little "waterproof" elbow thing which works pretty sweet. damn the underside of my car is heinous

Long time no post, it doesnt look like much has been done, but today i have finished(except a couple of wires in the engine bay) re-wiring the car, i still have a 2 speed heater, and a 2 speed wiper motor with the foot control, theres a 5star dynatron alarm in there, a fully sealed battery box with external vent and a smick as battery master switch.

Now I am starting to go through the process of putting the interior parts back in along with alot of other dribs & drabs which can be quite irritating if your missing that odd whitworth screw.

I have ordered all new window seals and a new headlining but it is taking longer than expected due to a shortage of headlining material in the UK!

Once that stuff gets here, i will get the windows tinted and installed along with the headlining(anyone know who installs headlining in auckland?? dont want to do it my self) the car will finally look almost complete.

Heres some pictures of it current house and how it sits, it looks incomplete but in reality it is pretty close, mostly money holding things back

It has 3 inches of drop in the rear but only 2 in the front, so i will get the springs compressed until I can afford some flash front suspension.

And anyone know how I can run wires into my doors for the central locking, I was thinking of using these bulkhead fittings but it seems that everywhere is double skinned and an odd shape

my updating has become fairly poor, heres a picture of how my engine bay currently looks

dsc00272zd.jpg

to start the motor I will need fuel, water and to bend my exhaust headers as they foul on the firewall

I have run all new fuel lines and installed a malpassi fuel pressure regulator

to finish the car I need to put in the windows & headlining($$$), redo the brake lines, fit the oil catch can and fit the interior. At this slow pace I estimate it to be driveable in 2 months

As of tonight, here is my slightly modified engine bay, no more vacuum assisted brakes/booster. Also finally got my gearbox together with heaps of help from dave, what a cunt of a thing, i really hope it stops leaking :x

you can also see my modified alternator bracket in this pic, the lower bracket is also slightly modified, the alternator fitted is a 55amp unit from a subaru justy

Just put the escort on a dyno, was pretty sweet. No power sheets as the dyno is too new though. Next time we will drill out the jets as it's leaning out at high rpm. Something weird is happening though as it won't rev much above 5k

Have found a few problems at this stage but all fixable. The engine bay gets really hot even with heat wrap on the headers, and when gunning it for a prolonged period the water temp can get up there which means I'll probably need a bigger rad in the future. Also got a couple of leaks

Also fitted a high capacity/ high pressure oil pump which after priming issues is pretty sweet

Also rolling around on a class reg as I have the windows fitted etc, I'll post up some pics when I get a camera next

Got an exhaust fitted too, I told them not to fit a chrome dumpy type pipe so what did they do? Yeah they fitted one and I told them I wasn't down with it and then just on the wu home from the dyno the tip came flying off driving down the road so now I can throw it in their face and get them to fit a straight pipe

ok a post with pics, since my last post I have fitted adjustable front suspension, new bilstein shocks all around, 24mm sway bar, strut brace and passengers foot rest to stop damage of the wiring. I have also passed the cert process and am waiting for the plate to turn up so I can go get a WOF.

Oh and I also got a new pair of stainless steel quarter bumpers which fit after a bit of mucking around. Word of advice, dont buy aftermarket brackets as they dont fit, I have 3 pairs and they are all different, just make your own, you will save alot of money and its not too hard, I was just very lazy.

I had a problem where the car would stall under high load and after lots of pondering, it turned out to be a very bad earth from the engine to the car chassis which I had done a very good of isolating, so now with a reasonably big cable fitted there are no problems hooning around. The bike carbs are going well and I will see about going back to the dyno and ensuring the jets are correct and see if I can get a power figure 8)

I am still having funny problems with oil pressure, on startup there is no oil pressure for around 20-30 seconds or until I rev the engine a bit, which is not really ideal as im not sure what damage might be happening. And when the engine is shut down, you can hear what I suspect is high pressure oil squirting somewhere inside the engine, emptying the galleries. Problem is, is that im not sure where to start looking on how to stop the problem, and whether or not it is a real problem, as I never rev the motor hard on startup anyway, and its being doing it since I have had it running and havent noticed anything bad... not to say that damage isnt being done.

Another thing I have noticed is that motorway driving is done at high rpm so I will look at getting a better ratio diff in the future. i'll see how it goes driving to nats and go from there.

When I got the exhaust tip changed to what I wanted, the weather was terrible and pouring down with rain. On the drive to the exhaust shop the car turned into a bath tub, so glad I didnt weld up the floorpan drain holes as releasing the water would have been difficult otherwise. It turns out that tiny holes allow mass amounts of water in, lucky I hadnt bought carpet for the car at that stage!

Next major hurdle is getting a WOF and taking the car to OS nats!!
