Picked her up 2 weeks ago and only driven twice (runs like a dead dog that has been buried in cement). Done far too much planning on parts/prices I even have a spreadsheet made up

Current State:

Very straight body, one dent in rear, rust on the C pillars in the usual place.

Badly cut away Wheel arches from a flare job by previous owner. Needs the rare arches welding together and the front ones tidied up.

Interior needs alot of love.

1300 engine currently has a Twin Choke Weber, 4-1 Extractors into a 2" pipe.

Initially had an APEXi big bore turbo muffler on it, now with something a little more fitting of an escort that sounds better.

Engine is out of tune due to previous owner having no clue.

0-60 time is probably somewhere about the 5 hour mark at the moment

Current Plans:

Do some doughnuts.

Fully strip down car, bead blast/sand off everything inc underside.

Weld up C pillars and rear wheel arches.

Repaint everything, retar bottom.

Install new suspension gear (Bushes, Springs, Shocks, Add leaf and reset springs).

Refurbish interior entirely.

Install electrics (Alarm/Central locking etc)

Replace 1300 with 2 Litre Pinto.

Install 5 Speed sierra.

Restore Ghia seats.

Get everything certed.

Only limiting factor will be time, luckily it will have a nice big garage to sit in for the whole project.

Car as is.

The wheel arches, these give me nightmares.

Shes finally down at the panel beaters getting the major damage fixed, which there isnt much of as I found out it had 1 owner from new for 20 years, all the dents were done by the 16 year old kid who bought it off that person.

I was going to put the flares back on the wheel arches, but the more I looked at the cut away arches, the more I like them (apart from the hack job the last owner did on them). So I decided to just get them reshaped and welded up, should end up a bit more unique than most :)

Will post more pics once the panel beaters are done with her :)

Attempted to get the 2 litre out of the Escort shell also, which turned out to be a nightmare. The sump was cut away so close to the cross member it was impossible to seperate the gearbox from the engine inside the car, so going to have another go this weekend, just going to remove the whole front end and lift the rest of the car off with a tractor

Well this is back on track after quite some time. My 4agze Levin decided to blow its head gasket so all funds were diverted to fixing that up at the time, and its taken me this long to get around to pulling the car out of storage (Lucky my parents own a storage company :P ).

Its in the same state I left it which is stripped down. Most of the 2L parts were sold off to get the Toyota back on the road, which means I will be sticking with the Xflow for now.

Ill get some pics up soon, just spent the day unloading and sorting all the spare parts, and interior bits. And just generally trying to remember what the hell I had done to it.

Digging through my old photos I found this, you can clearly see the munted guards, less obvious are the big rust spots behind the rear quarter windows (You can just see the orange bog where its all rusted), and around the rear window itself. There was also massive inner guard damage on the Front LHS, which was all fixed up. Otherwise it was very tidy and boring

Got the old girl running for the first time since 2005!! Changed the oil, water, points, condenser, plugs, fuel, and coil. Also blew up an alternator before I remembered I had switched the colour of the battery leads, red is the new negative. I also removed the Twin choke carb and whacked on an old 1.3 single choke carb to sort out the fueling issues, runs like a minta now :)

Giggled like a maniac for several minutes, did a few skids in the shingle outside the shed and parked it up again. Going to redo the interior and fill up holes/remove surface rust over the holidays.

Few months ago did a bodge and sprayed the car with several cans of red dupicolour. Shes water proof now atleast.

Have replaced the Alternator as the one I got from a spare motor was shot, has a shiney new one. Carb is in at the Carburettor Shop, old guy is giving it a refurb as it was stalling a bit on cold starts.

Door panels are in at Canterbury Upholstry getting black vinyl trim put on, and replacing the window seal bits that run along the inside of the windows. Will post some photos once I get them back. Asked him to make them as simple as possible as I want a real minimal look inside once its done. I have removed the centre console to help cut down on clutter.

Next up is new carpet, then I need to start saving pennys to get a respray done.
