Do they test play on these or is there a guideline on the aesthetic look of the outer edge/some safety issue im missing here?

They can be failed if cracked. Find a new WOF shop?

Think I'll have to. New area and it flew through last wof with them. I guess its a bit of a hard one as its the only bit they can see but the cracking goes about 1mm in if im generous.

Its done now, think I'll let them know, in a friendly way, on the recheck, and shop elsewhere.

What are the rules around replacing wheels with another oem wheel from another car?
Backstory is I have 20 inch wheels on my 2wd Hilux and they are probably over the 5% rule. My wof guy mentioned it last wof and I think he was hinting if I don’t get new wheels next time he will fail me. 
Seen heaps of oem new Rav 4 and Highlander wheels which should do the trick and look ok for a good price.  And the weight of the vehicles should be around the same (but will double check).

If I get the right sized tyres to be under the 5% threshold and wheels of a vehicle the same weight or heavier it all should be ok?

Yea ofc. Later model falcon wheels may work. 
But. I was just wondering if there are any rules referring to vehicle weights and wheels. I know there is something in there for cert. But what about normal wof?

Iirc the issue with cert is factory wheels don't seem to have a weight rating published or cast on them. I've never encountered swapping wheels as a wof issue and I'd expect you'd be pretty safe using something more or less equivalent (factory wheels are likely to have shitloads of safety factor built into them).

Can't answer if there's specific wof rules for this case. If you're not wanting to just send it, could you ask the garage/joker in advance of purchasing if they'd accept that

If you are within these rules you should be all good. it's not the wheel size that matters for the 5%, it is the tyre sizing.

Ah sweet as.

If you find some factory wheels off another toyota similar size you will be sweet. Eye appeal is 90% of rhe fight.

cert= cant use a OEM wheel from a vehicle with a lower GVM, which is a common issue with commercial vehicles, as they often have a higher gvm than a passenger car

dont think this is a must for wof, but inspector might require - technically if wheel is centred through lug-centric attachement i understand its considered attached properly

Wheel question thats been bugging me, what's the no BS eyes of the law/insurance perspective on road use of rebuild 3pc wheels like using pine, or what I have seen more of lately starting in nz, custom cnc centres

Is there even a route to get them legal?

Two questions: 

1. On a car with a significantly modified floor pan, does the certifier need to see the work before and primer or paint is laid down? Or can it be put in primer before it gets inspected?

2. Can these bumper mount/boot floor stiffeners be chopped off or tapered down? They are unsightly and they won't be used for the rear bumper mount anymore:

might be a depends on the certifier thing, but if the welds are clearly visible through the primer and not ground or covered in bog/sealer etc i would accept that

 

could chop the boot floor supports down or taper them, i wouldnt remove them fully though
