No doubt been covered before but what's the wof or cert legality/acceptance for a bolt in half cage that is behind front seats of a 2 seater?

I understand the msnz side but couldn't find a definitive answer for wof or cert/not trying hard enough

I found one for z31 which kind of appeals for some (psuedo?) roll over protection given the targa top would provide sweet FA (/ anyone actually seen a bolt in half cage perform in a roll over)

Stumbled across the Hel Performance website and was browsing what they do for Classic Mini.

Other than the normal braided replacements for flexible Rubber hoses. I noticed they do a Braided subframe line kit. Which replaces the hardline that runs across the front of the Subframe. This often turns to shite being at the front of the subframe in somewhat of a rust trap. The amount of work going into this Moke it looks like it will be my forever car….

Would running something by like this be legal/pass cert? Obviously Hel is a reputable brand (I think) and it looks like the hose is made to a decent standard.

No

Currently hard lines can't be replaced with flexible ones ,unless it's a rally car with authority card

Would a pak'n'save card give me enough authority?

Weren't lvvta reviewing that rule? I vaguely remember seeing something ages ago...

2007 Pajero just failed WOF for "aftermarket headlights", which were just basic replacements when the old ones hazed/cracked. They've been in there for years, all of a sudden, they are an issue. Anyone experienced something similar?

maybe they do not have 'E' marking, or a similar standard
we used to have compliance lights an COF lights at a truck importor i worked for as required standard was different

With the modification I have made with the Hillman minx from a leaf spring rear to a Hillman Avenger 4 link coil spring set up. The shocks are not inside the springs and I have read in the LVVTA (somewhere which eludes me know) that the springs will need some sort of fastening so they cannot dislodge and fall out. They can't as the shocks limit the amount of travel so the springs are still held in place. The lower arms are Avenger and so are the top perches and the distance between the two will be very close to the avenger. But I suppose rules are rules.

I have seen clamp type that hold the lower coil to the bottom arm and strops to limit travel but is there a LVVTA accepted way of doing this or can it be measured at cert time ?.

Is there any cert issues slash any other issues running a 15x7 with -25 offset??? Possibly getting some steelies made up and not keen for dramas down the line.

@cletus

howdy, coilover brand wise are struts like hakon tsd any good? Or would my future life with a cert be easier going with a more well known name brand like bc gold/fortune auto etc

if the top cup and the recess in the lower arm holds the spring from moving, and the shock keeps it from becoming uncaptive at full extension, that will be fine

@cletus

the lvv requirements for max offset are actually pretty extreme- 35% of rim width is max offset positive or negative

it is pretty rare that its a problem from an offset perspective

however, it might drive a bit yuck, and thats going to be up to the certifier

depends on the car, front or rear wheels, etc

eeeeeeehhhh

pretty sure both hakon and tsd are chinese and pretty average

i have certed them but no idea on longevity or parts availability

if you are doing something that you want to keep or needs expensive work to fit the shocks ie when you have to weld stuff to knuckles etc id suggest a more known option like bc or fortune auto
