For Questions Regarding WOFs/CERTs/NUMBER PLATEs

seat belt bolt should be 7/16 unf, or 12mm to meet cert reqs

however, sometimes with van stuff, there is things that dont meet LVV rules, but have engineering paperwork to cover it via calcs or testing

ive never heard of a 8mm bolt being ok for a belt anch though

there are some less than 100%scrupulous van fit out companies around so it would not surprise me one bit if someone hasnt looked at it properly

is that one where the floor that attaches the seats is glued in? done by a company in south auckland?

@cletus, if you have a vehicle like a DC5 or EP3 that is certified with welded coilovers and you modify it further and require a new cert, do you have to throw the previously certified welded coilovers out for the re-cert? As far as I understand there is no way to legally weld the base on in the Honda steering setups?

it may depend on the situation

i certed one once that went through an approval process, it had teins in it from memory

that was prior to the info sheet covering this situation

there will no doubt be some that sneaked through,

on the old plate system it would just say adj platform, so another way of getting them certed was to get some adjustable platforms fitted to the factory shocks, get cert, then put BC ones in

so not all of them are legitimately certified

the problem is, info was not always accurately recorded so it often results in emails to lvvta to sort out what can stay and what cant be re certed under the new system with photos. if i was presented with one, i would get lvvta involved to cover my ass

Yes The transformative automotive establishment is located in south Auckland.

the floor attachment is hard to see and there is new floor covering and a large battery obstructing vision but the 3rd row floor bolts look questionable with glue and no nuts

I have previously had to fail a wof on a new hiace that they did a conversion on due to the belts chafing on metal.

I have also experienced a lot of damage to under dash wiring with companies installing bird’s nests to allow for disabled controls

No frontal impact requirements for yours, but note 10 could be argued that too much has been taken away for it to remain structurally sound.

This is from a wof veiw. Entry certification is a whole other ballgame i have no interest in.

Kindof relevant to the above ^

If I were to cut out the floor of the X1/9 and weld a new lower floorpan in, I am assuming that would need a cert?

A rust repair type of thing, or a modified floorpan?

Yes. Does need cert.

An outlaw could do 'rust repairs' both sides, making a measurement mistake whilst doing so and put factory looking swages and things in the floor panels so it looks factory, and due to the rarity of the vehicle I'd wager that most inspectors would not pick it up, if it's not obvious

But that would be illegal , and should be certified of course

heavens,  I can't imagine someone breaking the law to avoid certification

Lols

I am thinking of it because technically if I put the Uno Turbo brakes on it needs cert, although again it is all factory bolt on and who would know nowadays anyway.

So if there was enough stuff I would just get the cert and get everything covered off along with some other improvements, ie floor/K20 turbo swap etc.

Plus I am a generally law abiding chap and tend to get edgy when driving uncerted/unwof'd/unreged vehicles.
