For Questions Regarding WOFs/CERTs/NUMBER PLATEs

On that note, the ex @KKtrips lobrid prius gets a bit of tyre rub on big woops. Am I likely to face grief come WoF time for surficial wear on the tyre sidewall? It's certified for height its at, and wheels are as per cert plate. Or is it up to the discretion of wof man?

Being a 67, it doesn't require rear seat belts, so I'm not fussed about that. But to achieve the 10-seat thing, it has 3 seats across the front bench, but currently only 2 seat belts.

I'm assuming I'll need the third lap belt in the front for my VIN check guys to sign it off as 10 seats. Is it OK to bolt in a lap belt that shares the bolt holes with the other two belts?

I was just going to take out all of the rear belts and use one of them in the front for the inspection so that they all match.

Once upon a time, Lance the cert man pulled me up for the centre lap belt bolts in my Navara being the wrong spacing apart. They were too narrow. 

I had used the wrong holes on tunnel so was an easy fix but the width rule is there to stop anyones pelvis getting crushed in an accident if the bolt spacing is too narrow.

So if you do end up fitting a centre belt to the orig holes just double check the hole centres are within the requirements (which I can't remember off the top of my head but I'l check my book later)

I would 100% fit a centre lap belt if you have a suitable one to use. (As per the previous discussion) 

Busting your face up on the dash is (lap belt lyf) is heaps more preferable to ripping your head open on a broken windscreen. (Ask me how I know) 

Even more so because anyone sitting up front is going to be somebody you give a shit about. (Family, or a mate etc)

Has anyone successfully amended the sub model on thier registered vehicle?

Workmate has an evo and it's just been registered as a lancer and he'd like to get evolution III as the submodel.

Nzta don't seem to allow a change even though the mr16a or whatever form exists. I get this may lead to people doing unscrupulous things, but thought there may be some evidence based way around this?

are chassis outriggers considered primary structural components? Mine are bashed up but that's largely because they're so flimsy in the first place. Probably only 2mm thick sheet metal and not even formed into a box section, just an open C. If I replace them am I going to get pinged at WOF time without a repair cert?

Probably not?

 

I've repaired such things on cars before and had no issues getting a WOF.

Thing with pre existing repairs like that at wof time, if they look like they are done right then it doesn't really matter for a wof imo. 

Do a nice job and fly through. Eye appeal is 90 percent of the battle.

In regards to floor patch panels at cert time, do these get flagged at all? Even if it has been passing wofs previously.

the ute has had a couple of floor patches done in its 44 years, it’s clear that it is all steel and no filler, but want to know if there will be any hurdles

If its structual like around the body mounts, seatbelt or seat mount areas they are going to want to make sure its done well.

If its a Kamo Kustoms spec repair using a stolen street sign then yeh ya might have a few dramas.

Back in the 80s I once patched (replaced) the driver's floor in an ADO16 with a supermarket shelf. Probably the thickest bit of steel in the whole car at that point.

I am doing a PDI today on a commercial van that has been converted with 9 extra seats, it has just been through a cert and booked for cof tomorrow.

it’s a weird setup with duel doors and no Retractable stairs like what is required in a factory coach version of the diesel van (this is electric)

but I noticed when checking the belts that the seatbelt is only fixed to the seat frame with a M8 nut and bolt, is that strong enough?? 
also there’s a lack of head lignin in the rear for interior impact etc?

not to be rude, but you would think the cert guy has signed that off. ring him to check, maybe he has overlooked it, and be a major brown if he has.

Has not been entered into online system yet but has the Lvvta nipple installed so could not look it up
