the tow ball/hitch thing was the killer for us. the rest wasnt hard, just time and bit of materials to re locate and modify things. depends on what you have the ability to do.

they are also quite heavy, so if u dont have a hoist/ forklift / couple engine lifters and a few dude available for a few goes... it gets infinantely harder.

yah, crayyyyyyyy. i staaaaaay tf away from them.

not like lt400 / cof's have to be engineered

mount directly to the chassis or gtfo

but therre are alot of tow bars that are pinch bolted to the boot floor pan between 4 big washers in tin can cars. so up to you if it meets your requirements LOL

Just build your own deck to suit your needs.

ones like m2 overland etc are awesome but so expensive.

if you find correct sized deck that doesn’t work, just relocate the mudguards and relocate the mounting points , it’s actually not hard.

often it’s better to just throw an extra couple of grand to a more suitable already set up unit.

i would stay 10 fathoms clear of that towbar set up off the deck.

whats the go with the towbars on long trays like this, presumably cant be rated for much. (im guessing theyre just a hoop off the tray)

I'd bet someone has jammed a single cab tray on, that's a lot of overhang

I've seen that style of tow bar before but they usually have angled supports that go forward

What's the go with Driveshaft adaptor flanges etc? I had a quick look through the construction manual and only saw driveshaft spacers

Would something like this be okay?

Stock trans has guibo and locating shaft

Would be nice to ditch the guibo and have this style uni and slip joint shaft in its place bolted to a adapter on the back of the gearbag

Somewhat related, if that 6061 spacer/adaptor is acceptable would it need to be heat treated to T6?

I did one a few years ago for a customer to adapt a hilux uni to a navara pinion flange so we could run a surf slipjoint rear shaft section. It hasn't gone for a cert check yet though.

I can't fully remember the outcome of the discussion with Clint at the time was, but I think it was a grey area as its not something commonly done. If sure he will chime in

I made this one from steel to avoid any issues with internal threads Lvvta have with critical stuff made from Ali. You might need approval to make one from Ali if its threaded and would need to be 6061-T6. As long as its hubcentric and you follow the Lvv fastener requirements for shank then itl be decent.
