plasticdash
ok im not thinking of doing this but i saw it today and thought quite loudly in my head 'WTF!'hilman avenger with cutties up front, shocks not captive so there was a long bolt welded to the top spring cap running through the bottom cap/plate/base/whateverwhocares and bolted captive,so when the shock compresses the bolt slides though the lower cap and the nut stops it from rasing past its captive point. seems a bit iffy squiffy to me Thats fantastic. Back in the day we used seatbelt webbing from one end of the shock to the other to limit shock expansion and keep spring captive.
treggo
To keep the rear seats in my coupe I'm not able to run fixed back buckets right? If I used a standard flip forward passenger seat and a fixed back for drivers would it be sweet?
Brock-Lee
nah pretty sure it has to be both sides. could tak to a cert man about setting up a flip forward fixedback setup sorta like minis have
Beaver
do you need window washers (water squirter thingys) for wof?
tortron
depends on the age of the vehicle but if they are present they must be functional (with water in them even)
Raizer
I think its pre 1980 that doesn't need them, but as tortron said if there there they have to work, so get rid of any trace of them.
BobbyBreeze
nah pretty sure it has to be both sides. could tak to a cert man about setting up a flip forward fixedback setup sorta like minis have Not sure how hard that would be, pretty sure seats with 2 mounting points are illegal, yet mini's have them standard. I think maybe beetles do too. But either way i don't think flip forward would work very well with a fixed bucket seat because they are tall? Hit the roof etc.
Brock-Lee
im sure you could setup a sweet parallelogram linkage thing so it effectivly pivots from further back on the seat. but yea youd want to talk to a cert guy about it first.

I have seen a couple of hatches certed with non flip fixed back seats, so it might pay to talk to your certifier, I think it might have somthing to do with how far you can slide the seat forwards on the rails. buzzysam
regarding shaved rear doorhandles on my 78 lancer, do they thve to be certed if i have no back seats or seatbelts? does it even need seatbelts in the rear since its 78?
bubblegoose
pretty sure the wof guy told me you dont need seat belts if you dont have seats, and dont need internal door handles either since nobody needs to get out so i would assume the outside would be the same
allan
what about with making new white number plates black like the older ones?
Brock-Lee
^nah man. illegal, a few people have done it and get away with it but mdifying a plate at all is against the law
Leebo3
Unless, you buy another set of the same and switch them. There is a company that make plates, so you could maybe get a set and keep your original ones in the boot. I got pulled up for having my black plate up front, cop said to change it back and I was off. Still forgotten to tho...
allan
whats the name of that company an how much would that cost around?

Brock-Lee
I was under the impression that you needed to be a recognised cage builder but have been informed that it just needs to be good welds
