Pretty tricky in a EH from memory,  I think the pillar is too far forward or too small ? I'd have to have a look you might have to put it below the window

Yep eh wagon, the correct place is prob right in the middle of the side rear window. I'm picking you cant mount on the top of the wheel arches like the old days? Even below the side window would only be the height of the low back seat. Think I've got the lvvta seatbelt info on my work laptop so will have a look there to.

Can a driveshaft have adaptor fitted at the diff end? Like 30mm spacer (like a wheel spacer/adaptor) that has the eccentric rings or whatever machined into them?

Saves having to cut up 2 good driveshafts if I can have an adaptor machined up.

I did one many years ago in a mk2 escort with 4age and k50 box, te70 driveshaft, just machined up an adaptor.. But I dold it before I got it on the Rd..

Not a certifier, but my old Zuk had one to account for the suspension lift, and it was certified with the spacer noted on the cert plate. Pretty sure it is fairly common for lifted 4wds.

However I imagine there are limitations on these in terms of construction , thickness, material etc. I think mine was an off the shelf part rather than custom made as it was anodized blue. So would pay to double check with an actual certifier/WOF person.

Is it a spacer? Or an adapter to fit a mazda shaft onto the hunter diff via changing the pcd?

It's not something that is covered by the standard, the wording sort of suggests that you wouldn't be able to do it, as technically you are lengthening the shaft via a spacer, but the wording is intended to prevent someone cutting and joining a shaft incorrectly

In my opinion if it's made out of a suitable material and is not too thick and has the right bolts with lock washers etc and it spigots into the driveshaft and pinion flange then it would be safe,  it's the same as a wheel spacer or adapter

You might want to check with @KKtrips

A driveshaft "adapter" between 2 different PCD's could be a problem, but a driveshaft "spacer" has been accepted before, as Clint says, providing they are suitably spigoted and made of a single suitable block of material with appropriate fasteners. l. I think we specified it is a maximum of 25mm in the draft engine drivetrain standard revision which is in the proof reading stage right now. I'll take a look tomorrow and see what it says.

Hi All,

I have to get some retractable seat belts for LVV on my C20. Does anybody know of any NZ approved kits that have the mounting brackets I can fizz in to the B pillar and bolt to the floor?

Otherwise am I better off just welding a nut to the back of a plate myself?

Cheers

You will almost certainly need to make the backing plate yourself, the constructors manual is pretty explicit about what is required for situations like yours. I can probably screenshot the relevant pages if you dont have it already.

On a side note I have two brand new retractable seatbelts I can sell you...

I have the hobby car manual. It doesn't look too difficult. I prefer to buy off the shelf as with my experience with LVV it is easier to show a receipt than to prove what is hidden behind the B pillar.

Thanks for the offer! I'll shoot you a flirty PM.

Possible to clarify piston or slide? Could be very pertinent to us as piston boots are NLA for a vehicle we're about to re-reg

Anyone see any issues using these

over the standard trunnion setup off a herald its a scratch built leitch lotus 7, they are obviously by design a bit stronger than the original herald items.

Fraser cars use that setup but with a lower arm that takes a spherical bearing like that. Lvv rules require a safety washer to prevent the joint from being able to pull through if it gets worn
