lowlancer
Are spacers illegal? I got some new wheels, but the tyres rub on the strut that holds the spring, only the front wheels though, so I was thinkin I need some 15mill spacers to stop it from happening, but apparently they're illegal.... Could I dent or grind the strut a bit as well, will it make the car dangerous or un roadworthy?
datsunboy
DO NOT dent/hack up the strut! I think spacers are illegal....but not sure...if they are proper spacers that bolt to the hub, then maybe....but 15mm is a fair bit. go ask a warrent man. si
Fitting of or modification to: Aftermarket wheel fitments LVV certification is not required provided that: THE WHEELS - are a known and reputable brand non-OE item, and - would be considered an appropriate fitment for the vehicle type by the wheel manufacturer and - are not modified, and - spacers or adaptors are not fitted, and - do not cause the vehicle’s track to be increased by more than 25 mm, and - do not foul any other vehicle components. THE TYRES: - have an outer rolling circumference that is not more than 5% greater than OE, and - are an appropriate selection for rim width, and - do not rub on suspension components, body structure or outer panels during normal vehicle operation, and - tyre tread does not extend beyond the original body panels and - tyres do not foul on any other vehicle components. lowlancer
The back ones are sweet, but the front ones scrub, so i might just get 15mm spacers and get it certed.
