trunk-rattlin
well folks, i was talking to this cat at work today who works at a wreckers on maisey place in vegas, i asked him if they had any 1600 escort motors in "nah, lots of 1300's though, 1600s getting a bit rare". I asked him was it worth it putting a 1600 in "for a bit more, you may aswell put a 4age or sr20de(t) in because in the end the prices will be similar" btw i hate turbos. thorts? and ruff prices for a finished job (incl certs) THANKS YA'LL sam
Bistro
I struggle to see how 1600 will be similar price to a 4a-ge or sr20. A good 1600 xflow could set you back 300-500$ depends on any mods or condition. A 4a-ge and t50 box will probably set you back 1000$ and then you have to get the loom too, and a sr20det maybe 2000$?? Dont quote me on the prices but id say there is a differnce.
Guest escort_boy
sr20de would be nice but i would say in the end anythin engine other than that will end up being coslty. for starters u would have to buy a different engine, then engine mounts etc, get it certed where as with a 1600 u wont have ot change sweet fuk all
Jerm
sorry mate but a 1600 bolts straight in ....easy... i think thats cheaper than a 4age or an sr20 somehow.. whats wrong with the 2L? ....
trunk-rattlin
will anything need to be changed putting a 1600 in? putting 2l in will just open up a whole new can of worms wouldnt it
Toucan
I paid $150 for my 1600 with everything but a gearbox. Bolts straight in, same mounts as my 1300, used my 1300 flywheel just because it suited the teeth on my starter and kept with my 1300 g/box. Only thing that gave me a little trouble was the sump but that was mainly because of it being a cortina sump. Its all going sweet now though

510WGN
I'd stick with trying to find a 1600 and spend the extra working the hell out of it! Go with NA power!!

Jerm
yeah you at the same stage i was.. i was goign to just find a 1600 but thought fuck it will be quick but i want it to be off the hook.... and 2L goes in without to much trouble..... and you know two litre eskie just rolls off the tongue also the 2L has the exhaust and inlet on the opposite sides to the kent crossflows.... so i am hoping there is enogh room to have side draughts..... i don't think its possible on the 1600 cos of the brake booster being int he way... correct me if i am wrong though..... but yeah 1600s pretty sweet... bolts straight in.. escorta only had a little trouble cos it was a 1600 from a cort.... carnut1100
2L Zetec? A bit pricey I know, but you can get all of the bits off the shelf and it shouldn't be any dearer than a SR20.
