Locking Diffs

Yeah you've got the idea, just a matter of welding up the gears inside the Differential carrier. Have to make a good job of it though or it will just break the weld, there is alot of force trying to hold the gears together!

Yip it's illegal alright!

Will allow you to do better burnouts if you can spin both wheels and will give you a mean ride!!

ok probly best 2 find sum1 who has done it b4. pull the diff head apart. take off crown wheel, and bearings. use vise grips 2 hold the spider gears in place and straight, if there not straight ur axles will last about 2 hours lol. the spiders are tha 1z that the axle fits into. weld them in place and weld in the adjoining gears and the centre pin. DO NOT MIG WELD!! use an arc welder as it gets alot hotter and really melts it all together :wink: makes it strong as. then all ya gotta do is put it bak 2getha and setup the backlash.

SKIDS ON poor mans lsd lol ... have fun 8)

im pretty sure it's for his starly for a skids comp. Your will need to trash it way more now, cos you have 2 tyres to spin now, not one, and they will be both spinning all the time.

if its just 4 a skid comp. block off the rear brake lines. and you would be quite surprised at how easy if is 2 spin both wheels with a locker. easier than with a normal dif once ur tyres r warm

Are you gonna drive it on the roads? If so, I hope you kill a little kid so you have to live with it the rest of your life. Otherwise, if it's just gonna be a burnout car or whatever, go nuts.

firstly have you ever had a lock diff in ur car? :?

most ppl arent dum enuf 2 be doin skids in public areas, specially where theres kids :shock:

and when driving normally down the road u cant notice the lock diff anyways :wink:

^^ i soarta agree with what low lancer was sayin eh,who knows what you mite encounter on the raod and it just increases the risk if your driving an illigal car, its stupid to risk someone elses life caouse your car is dangerous.

but in this case its sweet, its for baypark skids i assume. prob guna be down there myself. out of interest how would you block fo the rear break lines? see yall at the skids!

u can use proper clamps. hav seen vise grips used on brake hoses. on our car wev just cut the line and squashed it up

haha if we were fancy we wouldnt have a thread about locking diffs :lol: yea they are the key if ur building a mean car but in our case the valve would cost more than the car lol

well it wont need back brakes anyways, so just cut the lines, then fold the edge that goes to the master back and cable tie it to itself with a few cable ties.

and fill your back window sprayer with diesel, then put the nozzle aiming at the tire :D instant smokies at the flick of a switch...

that is if starlets have back window sprayers :?

Um, no.

You'll certainly notice a welded diff driving normally - like not being able to do U-turns!

A mate had a welded dif in his PP RX7 and it was a total bitch to drive anywhere but on the track.
