  1. Hey Team. Been AWOL quite a long time. Had some serious hickups in life that slowed me down and forced me to let go of my last project. a mk3 Ford Cortina. And frankly, I went through a pretty nasty period of depression. But you can't keep a good guy down. And you won't stop a grease monkey eventually getting covered in grease. Around a month ago, My Daily Driver 2000 Ford Mondeo slipped a tooth on the timing belt on the exhaust cam, and did some bendy valve stuff. A friend had this sitting in his hay shed taking up space. And Rather than try and rebuild the Mondeo motor (Which had only done 30,000k since I did a rebuild on it anyway) I jumped at the chance to get into something RWD, with a carb, and a tray. Repainted sometime in its past, But rather neglected of late. I saw this as a chance to tinker with something oldish again. Fresh Battery and some fuel and she fired right up. She didn't sound right, but she did start. Got her home running like a bag full of assholes. Popped the bonnet to find green alien blood pretty much pissing out the Number 4 exhaust. (Sigh... Headgasket) So.... List of things on the to do list... Head Gasket (Or just pull the motor and rebuild the whole thing, It's done 300,000+ k) The steering wheel is toast. The Fuel Sender is bung (This is pretty common in these from what I've read) The tray needs that water trap bedliner scrapped and a spray on liner done. The offset on those rims is FAR too positive. Add more tie down points. Fix the Fuel door Stupid little interior blanks with holes drilled in them need sorting Screws missing in the interior. Giant speaker holes in the door cards. Apply power steering (If I can find the stuff to do it) Headunit with bluetooth. Other minor cosmetic things. Sort the suspension. Answer every question/problem in life with "Just chuck it on the back of the ute" Create discussion thread.
  2. I got this recently as the avenger is slightly less capable offroad getting to some of my fishing spots. Someone elses project they gave up on, was complete when i picked it up- drove it home- plans are to fix couple of rusty spots & repaint. Slowly getting there in between all the other stuff that needs doing, its a 1600 with column shift, memory lane stuff & the kids are keen to drive something so 'vintage'. Most of my photos of it are too big to upload & im still getting the hang of what i can do with this laptop
  3. Hey am wondering if anyone knows of someone who has done a rb conversion on a l200 ute. I have just started doing one now so am undeterred if its the first of its kind. Project thread: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/48423-targa-1982-mitsubishi-l200-ute/
  4. Discussion thread for - //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/43713-harveys-1975-mazda-b1600-restore-wengine-swap/ Basically needing help deciding what engine to chuck in it? Also not wanting to spent my right leg on the swap, although i understand replacing diff, brakes, drivetrain, trans, engine mounts etc etc AND ENGINE.. is not going to be cheap. But so far the terms "1uzfe" and "3sge Beams" have popped up.. Thoughts anyone? Cheers
  5. Hey guys heres my 1973 mazda b1600 wellside.. loving it pretty rough but the outside is going to stay that way for the farm/hick style ..my plans for it is to take the inside back to fully original and make it shibby as (mint) and for the bay keep the original engine but work it..e.g sidedrafts, cam, extractors and port&polish,. i don't wanna go with the rotary conversion as most people tend to do that. having trouble on finding info on these badass utes online so some help would be great from the oldschool crew
  6. right, sold my old surf and bought me a '88 xf falcon ute. minor mods, stainless big bore, good extractors, cold air intake, XR6 headlights, hard cover, good stereo, recon motor, kelford cam, reset rear leaves, V8 coils in front, XR6 seats, 20 in rims blah blah bad pic... bought some trademe 15x8s with tyres, not really a fan of huge diameter rims on old cars... got a steering wheel as well of tardme, just need a boss kit now, also getting door trims trimmed in real dark grey velour, much better than plastic... hopefully itl come out all right, need a decent paint job as well ive been wanting a good ute for ages and this one has had a hell of alot of money spent on it already, so i can just finish it off.
  7. Discussion Thread //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/22621-xafordgods-thumping-460ci-ute/?hl=falcon#entry580785 Righto, this old girls been sitting in my workshop now for a month or so with out me doing any work on it like I should be. Too busy fixing other peoples cars....lol. So after going through the project cars threads has made me wanna do some more. Anyway she's a xc ute that was the previous owners daily driver for 15 years ( big block and all was fitting 12 years ago ) untill I bought it. He moved to aussie so I bought all his falcon stuff including the ute. All the hard work was done just the body was a bit sad. 460 bb ( thats 7.6 litres of grunt ) and c6 ridgeback, dedicated LPG, 460 torker intake, electronic ignition, twin pipes, lsd disc brake diff, 28mm front sway bar, heavy duty springs. Drives and handles excellent. Sits on dragway 14 x 7 with 245 BFGs. I drove it for a year ( had her nearly 2 years ) untill warrent of fitness and lpg tank expired and parked her up. Awesome tow car with loads of torque. I was going to do the big pull down but have just decided to just give her a tidy up and paint and get her on the road again coz the xd ute just dosent cut it for towing power...lol. It will get fully restored at a later date. I bolted repaired front guards and taildoor on ages ago so they are done. Door shuts are painted so its just the left door, both rear guards and roof to panelbeat. Rust wise its not too bad, below is a pic of bottom right rear guard. Just painting it satin black. Will put up more pics as I progress. Cheers, Brendon
  8. My little Datsun 1200 ute... As it was when I first bought it... 2 owners , Genuine 135,000kms... full service history ... and it's now turned into this... All that is left is a very bare shell and the necessaries to roll it around, Engine , gearbox , driveshaft , radiator , STEERING , Electrics , have all been removed... Time for new motivation!!!!! I have had the new engine for a while now , and have been accumulating parts... I sourced a nice 5-speed box... and on the weekend I got my gearbox adaptor....... Mmmmmmmm Cast Alloy It's so purdy... I shall post pictures later
  9. What a score I had on the weekend.... Right place at the right time got me a very nice ute for a great price... The person I stole... erm bought it from got it cheap and sold it to me cheap. I drove it the 75kms home and the next day all it needed for a WOF was a battery clamp. I have had a wheel alignment done as it was out and didn't want the brand new tyres that were on it wearing premature and bought a new bow thingy for the back to keep the tarp up. A quick wash and this is the beast. Stock 202ci with 3-on-the-tree manual. motor runs quiet and starts easy, I reverse flushed the radiator as it was full of rusty water and will do an oil change and radiator conditioner this weekend and add some wynns. Very Tidy eaxample for its age Even the grill is still in one piece and has Bumper over riders Engine is nice and clean Instruments include Tacho http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g52/kiwigraham/back-1-1.jpg Deck is in very good condition Front tyres still had the dimples on them Back tyres will do for some time too Tarp has some minor holes but is still very strong I could do lots of different things with it but I think I will leave it just as it is and use it as a Ute. If I did decide to change anything it would be to go to an auto to make it drive easier and make it more cruisy, and I have one in the garage too
  10. well awhile ago i scored a nice tidy wee 1977 mazda b1600 so thought it was new time for a nice daily driver/project. its done a genuine 114thousand ks and not in bad nick for a old farm ute. here what it looked like when i first got it at this stage i hadnt decided what to do with the deck as i didnt want this hick looking piece of crap, so i picked up a piece of shit 1980 wellside for a hundred bucks(well the mrs paid for it anyway). thought id spray it up, and will chuck it on while i make a nice tidy flat deck or find a tidy 77 wellside for it i then picked up some new wheels for it, rims cost me 200 and tyres were 90 a corner, couldnt really complain, 195/50/15s. i think they do the job mint. was kinda semi thinking about getting white walls put on the tyres but not too sure yet, what you guys think? thats about it for now, over the next week it will be getting slammed with reset leaves in rear and 2 inch blocks, and a coil in the front, see how that comes out, wanna try and get it as level as possible sitting at 100mm. and as for the sounds, ive got a sony mp3 player running into a set of boschmann 6.5 components and a 1200 watt sony 12 under the bench seat getting fed by a 1400watt amp, sounds go mint, couldnt ask for much better Discussion: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/21567-mutinys-b1600/?hl=b1600
  11. Discussion Thread //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/20583-seedy-als-620-uterus/?hl=seedy So, here we go again....... I have just purchased a damn Datsun 620 Ute... not a bad little ute really. Has had the cab rebuilt and Painted, although its all a little rough. Also has 60mm blocks in the back already, and wound down torsion bars, nothing special. Also came with some groovy 15 inch wheels. Anyway, the plan, Bolt on my Pajero 18's, bleed up the brakes so they work, fully tune out the engine. and Fix up the tray so it all looks minty fresh. Then sell the whore, hopefully to my boss, as a work hack, good times Anyway, pictures as I bought it today Great Allan
  12. This is my daily driver. Its a Ln56 Toyota Hilux Ute, 2wd (rwd), running a massive 2.4 Litre Desiel engine (non-turbo) already fitted with a 2002 wellside deck & lowered 50mm (front and rear) Converted gearbox from colum change to floor change Pretty much a blank canvas.
