Its summer again so to get ready for another couple of months of old school motoring we have decided to organise a leisurely cruise to Waipu for lunch, followed by spirited drive through some of the best roads in NZ. A gold coin donation is requested from participants for lifeline. So get the old girl out of the shed and let it stretch it’s legs. When: Sunday, November 29, 2015 Plan of Action: Meet up location: Carpark beside Caffeine and Classics, Smales Farm, Head into Smales Farm off Northcote Road and continue past the first park for Caffeine and Classics. At the first roundabout turn left into the Air NZ carpark and park under the trees. Meet up time: 10:00am, come in park up, have a look around other cars at Caffeine and Classics and pick up a map from myself. Grab a coffee and a croissant and be ready to leave at 10:30am sharp. Agenda: Following our departure, we'll be taking the Northern Motorway and turning off at Albany to Dairy Flat where we will regroup at Caltex Dairy Flat – 21.6km. We continue along Kahikatea Flat Road and turn right onto SH16 heading north – 35.7km from Smales Farm. From here we continue north on Kaipara Coast Highway to the first fuel stop at Te Hana – 93.9km from Smales Farm. Continue north along SH1 to our lunch spot at Waipu at Pizza Barn where we aim to arrive at 12:30pm – 133.2km from Smales Farm. After lunch the cruise commences to Mangawhai Tavern for a refreshing drink – 25.6km from Waipu Rounding off the cruise is a drive down Mangawhai Rd-Kaiteriteri Rd to Wellsford where we turn left onto SH1 towards Warkworth Mitre 10 Mega on Woodcocks Rd – 71km from Waipu Here those who wish to partake in a spirited drive can continue along Woodcocks Rd while the remainder can peel off down SH1 after Warkworth. Greeting chaps! Assuming the world chooses to continue spinning, and the sun keeps shining, and because I like doing stuff, I shall be hosting a quaint little BBQ event thingymajigie at mine on Saturday afternoon, around 4PM onwards or so. You all know where I am, feel free to rock up and burn a saussie Also, because Sunday is Sunday, a few of us are gonna cruise over to the Karangahake Gorge for a swim and a picnic. Depending on interest, we can meet up by the large L&P around 10AM, then have a lovely little cruise over to Dickey Flat maybe or just to wherever for a parkup and stuff.
