  1. Yo OS, I'm having a go at making this lockdown productive, but i've hit a wiring wall.. Recently performed an engine swap into one of my cars and of course I've reach the wiring dilemma. The swap is: Full 1986 GA70 1G-GEU (Bluetop MAP sensor) & Auto trans into a... 1986 GX71 Cresta Super Lucent (Factory Map sensor 1G-EU & auto). The engine is a 100% runner (had it running myself 1 day prior to pulling it) The Supra was 100% complete and I've used: Engine loom (uncut and NOT damaged) Trans ECU All accessories Everything has been plug and play, however, I understand that the 1G-GE won't run without some (repinning?) wiring work in the 1G-E Cresta. I did try start the car knowing it wouldn't fire, however the starter motor constantly triggered once the key was turned to ON (even before getting to start). As it sits complete now. . . There are TWO remaining plugs not used currently. One of them (pic below) is attached to the 1G-GEU engine loom and does not have a mate on the GX71 body loom. On the GA70 supra, the other end of the plug goes straight to the fuse box. . . The second plug not used is attached to the body loom of the GX71 and is a yellow 6 pin plug. on the factory 1G-EU engine loom, the other end of this plug is present. We continuity tested this plug on the 1G-EU engine loom and it went to 1G-EU ECU pins: BATT; +B; +B1. . . . . Has anyone had any experience with twincam 1Gs into single cam bodies? I have done a bit of a search on here and found some helpful stuff, however most stuff is for other chassis / example and I'm having trouble correlating tips / troubleshooting to my car. Any help or advice on here would be hugely appreciated. Cheers,
  2. So i figure a 1987 Toyota Mark II SX70 doesnt really belong in the other project threads but seeing as there wont be much happening to it this will do. I bought it in Christchurch on a whim, sight unseen, didnt even get a chance to speak to the guy. But after picking it up, things could be a lot worse. I have done 1000+ kms so far problem free. Gearbox feels good and its pretty straight but not tidy, fairly scratched up. Its getting a cut and polish tomorrow from one of the valet's at work. Ive got the lowering springs from the oldcar waiting to go into it and plans for a modest set of 15's as this is purely for daily duty. But so far i love it.
  3. Hey guys, just getting some bushes made for my gx71. Have bc golds etc and its horrible on the old bushes so im getting the entire rear end made up in polyurethane but im just not sure what stiffness i want to go to. Obviously most people get red ones but is there much of a difference between red and yellow. Anyone with experience with either would be great to know what you think.
  4. Garage Slipway presents Brought this gx of my flatmate no wof or reg, sussed a wof for it, Ive put sw20 rear shocks in the front with a spacer and TRD ae86 shocks in the back. Springs have been trimmed slightly and painted red heh Also got some Odd 15" rims i got lying round on it atm, got some 14x8 volks coming to go on it, Ripped out 1G-E yesterday and put the 1G-Gze in, Put new clutch from a toyota dyna in there. Started at 12 and had it running by 12 at night, unfortunatly viscous fan jit shroud and broke and fucked the radiator so ill need to suss something there.. Also cant feel the supercharger working at all so ill have to put a boost gauge on it to see whats going on.. maybe something in the wiring we had missed out?? feels just slightly better than 1geu? Heres a couple pics
  5. Bought this chur waka off loceda a while ago after he picked it up from down south with a blown clutch. We replaced the clutch but he no longer needed it as a run around so he handed on the beast. In pretty average condition but did the trick as a daily. Soon got bored with it so it got cutty treatment before christmas. Unfortunately while on the piss I forgot to check wof and reg before cutting and it turned out to be 2 months over due. So had to stick in celica shocks for the next wof. Is now being driven by mike and spence because I have moved up to piazza goodness and is currently for sale if anyone is keen to experience Cressida-ness. boso by loceda baha
  6. LOLS So its a jap import waka, 1g-eu auto. Super slow and what not. Lowered it mildly as I don't want it scraping all over the show. Chucked my AW11 inserts in to make things more captive. Could easily go alot lower buy getting choppy. Day I bought it: Lowerage: ^ those are the same length springs, was a battle to get them on Innards:
  7. Id owned this corolla for 4 years and built it from scratch, ended up with 4AGE, Coilovers, Hilux Rear etc.... Then sold it late last year, this is it at the time of sale. Then on January 1st 2007 I bought this GX71 cressida. Stock as $900 from taupo. It looked like this. Then I needed rims ASAP so made the mistake of going to Drury Tires, coughing up heaps of money and buying these. 17 x 7.5jj Then got 35% tints all round and Lowering came next, I ended up using stock struts, cbf with coilovers... I got Low king springs for the front then had them compressed 30mm Cobra lowering springs for the back compressed 50mm For shocks in the front I used GT4 inserts, these were shorter with big valves and held my springs captive, sweet Rear were Townace ones I modified, again big valves and short as. After lowering it, it rolled like this Discussion Thread: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/21278-jebuss-cressy/page-1?hl=cressida
