  1. Ok so thanks to some peer pressure, and some bribery from our very own Bigfoot I ceased umming and ahhhhing about buying the Galant sell that had been calling my name from Zebra. She is a 1972(woohoo vintage reg) Mitsubishi Galant 16L... or Dodge Colt in the US... or Dodge Cricket in Canada (not to be confused with the US Dodge Cricket... which is actually an avenger lol... fucking "muricans! Shell is in very good nick with minimal bog or rust immediately obvious and the majority of the important bits there or there abouts including all the glass, dash, interior trim bits etc so the complicated to replace stuff seems to be there which is handy. Need to track down Engine/Box... i'm gonna go with the easy option of 4g63 non turbs which I know goes awesome in this weight body (had same in my second LB Lancer and it was a hoot) Steering column could be a little trick but need one of those too. Bigfoot has some spares that he has said i can make use of so struts/springs/dif etc so I can get her rolling which is fucking ace! need to figure out wheels and paint at some point soonish. But my mum had an awesome orange one on THE BEST WHEELS IN THE WORLD steve... aka turbos lol... and my grandmother had a rad silver one. Leaning toward a real rich burnt orange at this stage but it is early days... don't even pick it up till saturday haha. Anyway, pics As it sits right now: And how they are supposed to look haha: Sleek! Dodge! Low! factory spec! Edit: further good news is that reg is on hold and shit so once I slap it back together I can just get wof and roll, jeah! 2. A53c? Wow cool project. I’ve got a few a57c parts but shipping would be killer. Good luck! edit: thanks mod my bad.
  3. So my first post here, im currently restoring my 1972 Mitsubishi GTO I just recently acquired here in the US. Does anyone know of any leads on parts? I really need a hood(bonnet) because its so rusty. And I'm always open other parts and pieces. Cheers!
  4. After looking at this at my mates house for a while now, I finally decided to buy her. 1980 Mitsubishi Express in need of some love. Plan is to fix the little bits of rust, chuck a motor into her and add some wheels. Started digging through to clean out all of the goodies that came with it and found an original tool kit hidden under the seats Better photos are on the way when it gets pushed outside to be washed in between snow and rain shower.Oh and why its called the Awesome Express,
  5. Starting my 4G63+t project brought the car 6 months ago for 800 bucks rego and wofed original paint, 2 rust holes in the rear bottom corner and paint fading in a few places heres some pics as of when i got it

  7. please post here if you have any ideas on what should be next or anything else that can help with the old girl.
  8. Hi Guys I figured it was about time i made one of these for the old girl. I got her 100% original, right down to the AM/FM radio. the only thing the last owner original owner had done was put a kill switch in, aftermarket tacho and some monster horns. After having her for about 2 weeks i decided the old 4g32 had to go so i was on the hunt for a cheap 4g63 then only after another 2 weeks i had one ready to drop in. once i had the cam belt off i noticed the cam pully had a crack in it so off it came and i had a dohc one (they are wider so i cant fit the timing cover back on) that is adjustable so on that went and then just a general tidy up before it went back in the hole.
  9. Link to build thread A place to talk shite about my sigma money pit. Cheers all.
  10. Discussion thread I've been convinced to finally through up a build thread for the siggy. Build up started last year so I'll start from there. I purchased this n around July last year from a guy down in Dunedin, who in turn purchased it from some old couple, where it had been stored for 14 odd years or so (if I remember right). I found it by mistake really, just saw some pretty shoddy photos on trademe of it for sale while looking at old colts and gtos. After some google-fuing, it seemed like a pretty interesting project. They were a bit more popular across the ditch (more commonly known as the Chrysler Sigma (seriously though click that)), and are commonly swapped with everything from Evo 4g63ts to 1jzs to Chevy small-blocks. A decent looking, sub 1000kg, large engine bay, rwd slice of fun half the price of an okay condition ke corolla, what's to loose? So I picked it up, and it was better than expected. Only one spot of minor visible rust, in the bottom rear of the fender on the drivers side. Original Registration sticker. Some minor bruising around the front and rear bumpers, were the rear bumper seems to have been lightly tapped by something, but otherwise the super oxidised paint appeared to be all there and all good. Here it is before and after possibly the only good cut and polish its ever had: And Paint wise, it came out looking mint. Wish I took more photos of this to give it justice.
  11. Hey Everyone, (Project Thread) Here's my baby. Now, I wonder if anyone can help? The seller says the car's a GSR but since she hasn't been very honest, I'm having my doubts...(then again she could be misinformed and very oblivious) All the car really has to associate him with a GSR is his bolt-ons but these could have easily been fitted. He has no identifying badges. They were thrown out with the original grille. He has no GSR seats. Was told the front were swapped (one's green, the other's brown. Thought only one might have been replaced but none match the colour of the back seat and interior, which is black). No mention of the back seat being changed but it has a different pattern to the GSRs that I have seen online (eg. 1, 2 ). Also, the back side panel is different. Mine has a debossed GT in the back and a metal strip above the ridges. I don't see that in this GSR. Lastly, his chassis number starts with A57C - 39O (A57C - 39O1176) where the 75 GSRs on goo-net-exchange (eg. 1, 2) start with A57C - 371. In saying that, I did find a 4g52 motor for sale that says it's Grade GTO GSR and it's body number is A57C - 3903332. Unsure how reliable it is since the seller does not know the year or model. (Anyone know how to read the chassis number? Contacted Mitsubishi about it but haven't heard back yet) I'm not really fussed either way but it would be good to know what I have. Edit: Added Project link. Changed for readability. Added and edited info. Changed title (we think it's actually a 73 not a 75 model. Will change back if Mitsubishi says otherwise).
  12. Hey Everyone, (Discussion Thread) This is my baby, got a lot of work to do on him. Was given the impression that he was in better condition than he is but ah well. Will update after I have stripped him down. Hopefully there won't be any more surprises (Please ignore the raised bonnet. It does close, albeit somewhat a bit tightly. Just forgot to shut it after looking at the engine) Edit: Added Discussion link. Edited title (we think it's actually a 73 not a 75 model. Will change back if Mitsubishi says otherwise).
  13. So awhile back I got given this insanely wicked car, a 1972 Mitsubishi Galant Colt. I didn't know much about them, although apparently they are quite rare to come across these days. Anyways I fell in love with it immediately. It comes with full original interior, original number plates, original tires etc. I also really dig the pillerless effect! Anyways I will share some photos of the project (it will be very slow in the making as I'm a full-time uni student) yet it will be completed in the end. Any feedback would be lovely to read, and if anyone has any spear parts they're willing to sell, I would be most delighted in hearing from you. Discussion Thread
  14. //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/47813-dannybattie-1973-colt-1600/ Discussion here - see link for project Advice on what to replace the 4G32 Saturn Engine with? Keen to keep costs down and ideally looking to keep the swap fairly straight forward. But a 2 liter and extra power would be nice. 4G61/4G62/4G63 ????? Any advice on engine upgrades/swaps??
  15. So here I begin. //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/47814-dannybattie-1973-colt-1600-discussion/ This little beastie was a little neglected on the side of the road and so I decided to rescue her. She is mostly original. I'm gradually fixing her up. Gearbox is freshly refurbished with an extra 5th gear. The Green Machine interior is good and the engine (1600 Saturn 4G32) is running fairly well from what I can tell. While I'm sure the purists out there will be disappointed, I am looking for parts/advice on simple and cost effective: Motor upgrade (extra power) Lowering kit/parts Lock or tight diff Any other bolt on upgrades Any feedback, comments, parts, motors etc is most welcome
  16. So this this is my first post on old school.co.nz.. just showing off the 1978 Sigma "granny spec" let me know what you all think. Open to ideas on what to do to her
  17. Well Im new to oldschool.co.nz so I thought Id post my baby as way of introduction. Have taken quite a few photos over time but cant be too bothered putting up a whole montage so "befores" and "currents" will just have to do for now... Quick specs: 1978 Mitsubishi Galant Sigma 2L 4g52 sohc 5 speed man KYB shortened shocks and King Springs Rockford Fosgate 12" t2 in boot, RF 6x9s Engine has been left pretty standard as the previous owner used to run it on a 50/50 mix of petrol/diesel, so have been waiting to see whether an engine transplant would be needed, but everything seems ok so will go ahead with tuning the 4g52 n/a - for that more authentic and restored feel. Unless it dies. They buy I bought her off used her as a paddock basher, and hit a few fence posts... After a bit of panel work, and just general time, effort, and a bit of money
