  1. Discuss and things - 2006 - young kid keen on cars as most boys are, soaking up some fresh Import x material I recorded on vhs the night earlier because it was on past my bed time. A good half hour in i see this guy (who now happens to be our local snapon rep) Working on this car Skip forward 10 years..many attempts and many heart breaks of not being able to own my dream car this finally looked like one i could purchase. I sold up all my cars, saved up for years till i had a decent amount to get an ae86. I had seen this online last year but somewhat brushed it off in efforts to find a genuine hachi. Basically the more i was saving, the higher the market price of 86s went... my wishes were for it to be a kouki (facelift) Trueno, 4age, tidy enough without much rust, wasnt bothered about notch or lift back and sunroof if lucky. Soo this car ticked all of that plus the price was in my range.. Curious was to why it had been online foraround 2 years i got in touch with stacked and soon found out it was an ae85 which i wasnt really fussed about. The car is a top spec se ae85 so still has black interior, int wipers etc basically gt spec interior without the flashy seats. Gave them the all go, and got the ball rolling. Rob took some pics of his next to mine when he got it lol @ monstertruck Pritty lucky to beat the storm poor Japan just had too
  2. //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/49929-pbaines-1985-ae86-corolla-levin/ Well, I have bought myself an AE86 in from Japan. Always wanted a Sprinter Trueno but ended up with a Levin as it costs a lot more for the Trueno (probably 4-5k NZD) but to be honest, after getting this Levin here I am over the moon. As an AE86 always does, there's a bit of rust here and there. It does need a repair cert but the fella i'm dealing with is very helpful so should be good to work with him to get it all sorted. Engine is built to N1 spec, and goes like the clappers! Needs a new CW & P though, as it is massively high strung at the moment and I sit at around 4200rpm at 100k so definitely not ideal at all. As it was in Japan at Stacked (best guys to deal with, highly recommended. Was shipped via AutoHub which was 100% hassle free) THEN It was time to get it on the boat. But not after removing the side skirts and raising the suspension, with the greatest method of adding nuts as spacement. It was on the top of the list to go 'remedy' from the VINZ inspection too Lastly Here is the VINZ inspection sheet.
  3. For discussion on my car, please visit - //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/48408-scrmntoys-1983-toyota-ae85-discussion/ My AE85 project purchased in April 2015. 1983 Toyota Trueno Sprinter with Levin front end. 187,800km on the clock, only traveled 10,000km since 2004, has been in storage for the last 3 years and owned by previous owner for 8 years. Originally imported to NZ in 1991 to Dunedin. Has been a Dunedin car up until the previous owner moved up to the Bay of Plenty. Plans for the AE85 is to turn it into a nice tidy street car with tasteful mods. So far the hard work has been done and is just a matter of improving on whats already been done and tidying up the panel and paint. 4age 2nd gen bigport with 7 rib block, Factory exhaust headers with free flow exhaust. AE86 2 piece driveshaft and with open diff, rear disc brakes, old owner said said diff is from a celica but unsure of this yet as he wasn't 100% certain Nolothane bushes throughout all suspension components T series box, unsure of what model yet, K-Sport Coilovers, All certed - Also says reinforced rear shock towers on plate 17x7 wheels with spacers (bit too big for car I feel and wrong styling for the error or the car) Came with 13x7 rims aswell. Currently temporarily have put my 15x7 wheels off my AE92 as 17s aren't the best to drive with. Fibreglass bonnet with bonnet pins.
