  1. Sooo, 5yo Acer Laptop stopped charging this week. Picked up a new charger off TM. No difference, still has charge so I can run diagnostics if hive mind has a strategy? Nothing needs to be recovered so not the end of the world if I need to replace it, but still has 4-5 hours of battery life/does everything it needs to if there's a repair strategy?
  2. So I messaged @h4nd earlier today to help me out with my inadequacies, he said I should repost in here to make you feel better/spread the knowledge. This was his super helpful response, I've spotted that what I need is ~$2.50-$5/unit from somewhere reputable, I need ~30, so slow boat from Aliexpress will sort me out , we're pretty lucky to have clever chaps who don't make you feel like an idiot when asking the hard questions...
  3. Yeah exactly, I was last working in electronics close to 20 years ago and it was Knipex or nothing.
  4. Which bit? My first project is upskilling so I can teach it better to students, I want them to do a solar tracker project next year, and an antclass robot wars kind of thing in 2025. I need to be able to solve the problem before I teach it, I find nice hand tools make fiddly wiring more of a satisfying process...
  5. Caught up with this student a few weeks back. He's just finishing his second year at UC and wants to develop this project further so is going to work on it over summer. Just looking at upgrading my personal kit, is there a Knipex, or similar quality for cheaper option out there?
  6. I'm suspicious his Buell would have some fans on here too. He really needs some bullying!
  7. @Mof has done the ride so he's the expert, but typically if you can handle fuel range of ~200km and a cruising speed on seal of 75-80km/h then you'll be fine for these rides.
  8. Oh my, so many options. Definitely not aroused...
  9. Where did you outsource the printing to? (Sorry if you mentioned it already). I've used JLCPCB a few times as I like the online quote function which allows me to tyre kick without wasting a real persons time.
  10. I've used One Stop Cutting Shop, were reasonably priced and quick. https://www.onestopcuttingshop.co.nz/
  11. I'm not sure if it's something you've already done, but a lithium battery made a decent difference in terms of high up weight on my WR250R, yours is definitely looking the part though!
  12. That's a sweet origin story! Photos don't work for me, but perhaps they're hosted on Instagram?
  13. https://www.fixya.com/cars/t19336252-2003_mazda_tribute_sputters_4000_rpm I think you might be on the money with the lower limit in neutral. Cheers!
  14. I'll give it a go with insulation tape and order a few from Rock Auto. Apparently that's the sound when driving under load too but I haven't been in it recently.
  15. As simple as replacing them all or just the ones that look poosed?
  16. Hey Oldschool brains trust, a mate of mine has a Mazda Tribute V6 (Ford Duratec apparently?)with some issues. Last time I drove it December(ish) it had a slight stumble/hesitation at 100km/h on partial load. Idle was sweet, full noise was fine. It sounds like it has deteriorated since. These photos were taken this week, and this video shows the popping and farting around 4k rpm. What's the e-diagnosis? A warm can of Dobro or a Blue Diesel to the successful candidate...
  17. My SR741s had an impressive wobble from new, didn't balance them. Would probably be less tiring if I had...
  18. There will be Chch crew riding to Fairlie on Day 1 so it wouldn't need to be dropped in the middle of nowhere... @sentra will know the deal with shipping?
  19. I think provided you didn't roost everyone and disappear in a cloud of dust everytime we stop you'd be fine. In 2021 I'd broken my back 4 months earlier so did it on a WR250R, I think Kyle might have been on a CB400 that year too. Attitude is probably the most important thing!
  20. A Goldwing up that rock step would be a sight to behold. @governorsamwwhat do you reckon?!
  21. Awesome stuff, great photos with a good yarn too. This could be telling you to suck eggs, once you start to get more exploring under your belt it's just a matter of time before you lay it on its side (hopefully gracefully and at low speed!). It's great to lay down the bike on your lawn practice picking it up. There's a few techniques but this one is a goodie IMO
  22. Thanks for the offer Joe, Mof has already pre-run this route (solo and with less daylight!). So we know it's achievable. If anyone else wants to discuss changing the route, please message Mof as the confusion created in the thread isn't worth it.
  23. @peteretepddid a good chunk on his Street Magic until the Porika killed it. I think it was 70cc? @Truenotcha was fast AF on his ~100cc machine. May have over taken me on the WR250R more than once...
  24. $970 GN125 is deregistered. Sensible and in Otago = I saw this listing you may be interested in: Suzuki GN125H 2015 https://www.trademe.co.nz/4073111254
