  1. Really you've gotta get it to shut down so you can test things... See if it still has spark when it shuts down, my guess is it doesn't. I'd be more likely to look at a faulty coil that's failing once it gets a bit of heat in it.
  2. I appear to have put the wrong post in the wrong place... Mildly tempted to christmas the shit out of my car just for the hell of it for this.
  3. It needs some velour interior and a disco ball. #justsayin
  4. Okay it's a Wattyl etch floor paint. Sticks so well it's not funny. Use a roller to chuck it down and holy moly have the doors open cos that stuff will have you higher than Seth Rogan.
  5. The only thing is. If you paint it now, it'll stick and you'll be fine. But if you decide not to paint it, then applying it later will be a prick of a job and it wont stick as well. I love having a painted floor cos oil can literally be mopped up and when you slide around on the floor you don't get concrete dust all over your back. I'll look up the product we used at work cos we re apply every 3-5 years in a heavily used workshop and it's bloody great stuff.
  6. Either that or you have a sticky EGR valve. My terrano did that when I first got it till I disconnected that pesky valve.
  7. I have a couple of P10 primera wheels at work you're welcome to have if you want them. Not overly pretty but they'll fit your stud pattern and hopefully clear your brakes.
  8. "The first startup video". Lies! It's always the second startup that you film cos you forgot to do the first one. Good work though team. Should be rocking for monthly meet tomorrow then aye
  9. Your lack of commitment is starting to concern me... Of course I'll be there, I'd have no life otherwise!
  10. FINALLY. Looks good man. Coastie rep hard! Also. Needs boso pipes.
  11. I think this is up there in my top ten car experiences ever, and certainly one of, if not the best that I've ever had in the Escort. What a day! Privileged doesn't even begin to cover the emotions I have towards being given such an opportunity to see and do what we did. A massive thanks to Rod for showing us around his property and a huge thanks to Amy, Karl and to the awesome job your dad did of guiding us around Rod's place, he did a great job! Car ran great, most of the cyclists were fairly accommodating towards the cars that needed to pass, of course there's a few that try to make up for their lack of wheels and an engine to make others lives difficult but you get that. The weather gods were kind and the gods of tarmac were smiling upon us for sure. What. A. Day!
  12. Forecast at this stage is a bit average, here's hoping it clears up! (They usually get it wrong anyway)
  13. Did what he do make any difference? They're pretty simple carbs to work on aye. Just get a can of compressed air and start pulling it apart, look through each jet and if you can't see through give it a squirt till you can. Does sound like a blocked jet to me though.
  14. I didn't think to take any pictures, haha. Still got a mad cold and Nizmo was being a grumpy prick so didn't wander around much but was a huge meet! Nice turnout from the mini club too. On the way there I missed the turnoff to meet at Partsmaster (so used to taking Northcote in the Escort for Backyard Bar) so ended up just rocking up earlier than the rest of the group. Whoops!
  15. You can get pistons all the way up to 90 thou for these things. Measure the bore you have, chances are you wont need to go more than one, maaaaybe two sizes up (you'll probably be fine with 20 thou, but may have to go 40 thou). Unless you're bored out to 90 thou already you wont need to resleeve that block.
  16. So which of your other many cars are you taking?
  17. So yeah I did a thing... Stoked as with the ride height now. Drives a lot nicer, front is way firmer, rear is obviously no different so I might get some stiffer shocks for it, or maybe one day reset the leaves. Dunno yet. I think as far as the new engine is concerned I've decided that I'm going to hang out until I can find a new block, paying a grand to have the block I have resleeved seems stupid when I can pick up another, and machine it out to +40 for far less. So if anyone has a kent 711m block that's of no use to them, and is either stock or less than 40 thou then hit me up.
  18. Just 2" blocks mate. It is quite soft in the rear though so will get the springs reshaped at some point. Happy with the height though.
  19. Most of our cars are barely quicker than cyclists anyway. New suspension: check WOF: check Tyres in good nick: pending I'm seriously looking forward to this now.
  20. The main reason I haven't started mine is I'm still running a 1300 engine, once that small issue has been overcome then building a teardrop will be my main project. Probably a project for next winter to be honest. Americans go overboard on everything! I've been watching that small spaces TV show and watching a lot of blogs online about these things and taking in ideas that other people have had about how to arrange things in mine. I'm not going to build a galley in mine, instead I'm going to focus on multi use space inside the cabin.
  21. That really looks at home behind the escort! Great job man. Now Ned and I both need to get our shit together and get stuck into building ours!
