  1. Fixed the photos and added a new post with a few more pics. I have had the wiper assembly shit itself, haven't had a chance to look at it yet, it sounds like the motor is still turning, but no blade movement. So maybe stripped some internal gear? Anyway, adding that to the top of the to do list.
  2. I took some loads around to my parents place to dump on their bonfire, so took some pics of the tray up while I remembered. I will box the front end of those 2x main rails to add some strength, and see if I can add another cross bar at the front where it is missing. I imagine it was left out for clearance around the pump assembly etc so this may require some creative thinking.
  3. Discussion for: Let me know if you have any goodies, especially a good dash pad! -Hayden
  4. Discussion: So I needed a ute, as I have purchased a house and am diving head first in to renos, and my Lexus wasn't the most practical of building material haulers. My Datsun ute is too many $$$ away from being finished plus all my spare time and money are temporarily tied up in the house. It had to be: A) a ute, B ) a flatdeck, and C) preferably a single cab. So my search criteria was pretty vague. I jumped on Trademe, and started with a local search, and this popped up: It fit the criteria, so I went and had a look. It has had new paint recently, with pictures taken of the rust work (as it needed them for a warrant). Pretty gutless 4G63, but had a tip tray! So I was sold. Haha It needs a few things: 1) Stereo hooked up- the stereo is there, seems like a good Pioneer unit, but they retrimmed the door cards as part of the tidy up, and forgot to leave the cutouts for the speakers in there. Plan to somehow fit in 4x speakers and a slim active sub, as I like a bit of bass, nothing too major. 2) Sound deadening/interior tidy- The seats/carpet are tidy, but the rest of the interior needs a tart up. Going to sound deaden and line the roof, and maybe throw some in the doors too. It really needs cup holders as well. 3) Tray modification- It is a flat deck, but at the moment the big bars on the back are solid as well as the sides. While this is good for tipping, it means it cant fold the sides down and load a pallet. I have a flat deck that I can steal the sides off, quickly modify to suit the size of this tray, then cut the big bars off and buzz them on. I may also need to strengthen the tray when I do this as those big bars add a lot of bracing, but it shouldn't be too hard. Also going to replace the ply on the tray, so will have lots of access. 4) More power (maybe)- definitely won't be doing anything major, as this needs to be driveable at all times, but may look at extractors, exhaust, maybe get someone who knows about carbs to freshen things up. Have already started using it, have done several loads of scrap timber from the renos, also made a temporary back board and loaded it with dirt pulled out for my new retaining wall. The ram couldn't quite lift that much dirt, probably had to shovel a third of it off and then it dumped the rest. Dad is going to have a look and see if it he can do anything, but there are no load markings on it so it's all a bit vague. I forgot to take a photo of it with the tray up, but safe to say it's a cool bit of kit.
  5. @rb drifter @mk2marty @ESKIN8R @bigfoot So who is planning on turning up for this. Just trying to figure out what I need to get.
  6. Address is 896 SH14, Maungatapere. Directly opposite the top of Newton Rd. If you're coming from town and the traffic is heavy, you can pull in to the top of Newton Rd and wait for the traffic to clear. 7pm onwards Wed 20/1/21 , I can grab things for the bbq, just BYO drinks/snacks. Let me know who is planning on coming so I know how much to get.
  7. We could have a meet at my place I suppose? I am in the middle of some pretty major renos in the kitchen, but the bbq works/I have a pool table? Plus the Datsun should be in the shed by Saturday, finally getting it moved from my parents place this weekend all going well.
  8. I'm keen, don't have an OS car atm, but can take my daily or jump in someone elses? Do we have an idea on a date for the December meet? So much shit going on it would be good to get it booked in early.
  9. Gonna have to say I won't be there sorry, today is the day I go unconditional on the house so have that to sort after work, as well as final prep for this trip and mad panic packing as settlement date is 3 days after I get back. Excuses excuses, I know, but I just need the extra time. Yáll have fun now.
  10. I also purchased a house, and settlement is 2 days after I get back, so there's that. Haha not that it's a competition. I'll try make sure I am there, I do need to be more social.
  11. Will do my best to be there, but I am flying out to Wellington for a week and a half the next day so may need to do some packing depending on how organised I am.
  12. I bought mine from Union Hardware 1998 Ltd, in Wellington. They have a sister store called Car Colours in Auckland on the North Shore. It was still expensive, but even with shipping it was still significantly cheaper than what I could get it for locally in Whangarei (only 1 retailer here who sells it, that I know of). They have semi regular sales too which brings the price down a fair bit. But yeah, definitely cheaper 2 pot liner options out there.
  13. Not a certifier, but my old Zuk had one to account for the suspension lift, and it was certified with the spacer noted on the cert plate. Pretty sure it is fairly common for lifted 4wds. However I imagine there are limitations on these in terms of construction , thickness, material etc. I think mine was an off the shelf part rather than custom made as it was anodized blue. So would pay to double check with an actual certifier/WOF person.
  14. Yeah same here, had a fair bit on this week, meant to say I wouldn't be there but forgot. Keen as for next month.
  15. https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=2724564528 I'm going to give this stuff a jam on my barwork, sprayed with a schutz gun, so if I get there before you go ahead and do yours I'll let you know how it comes out. I've read and watched a few reviews and it looks to be fairly decent. Definitely can't beat the price too, and the store is local to me, but shipping isn't horrendous.
  16. Am here, stayed in town after work. If anyone else is here early and sees this lemme know, I’m just in the car.
  17. Count me in. Have followed the topic so will check back periodically for details.
  18. Thanks @Roman, yeah about 16 months on now the old back is about as healed as it will ever be, but mostly good. It's all starting to take some sort of shape, which is good, still hoping to get it done this year, but so much has come up financially/in general that it might be a bit of a mission. Definitely ready for Nats 2021 though.
  19. I am still working on this thing. Took some photos today as I dragged it out of the shed to turn it around to do some work on the drivers side. Don't judge me too harshly, obviously there a lot of things half done on this, but I reckon it's looking good. I call the look Mad Max meets prerunner. Next goal is to get all the bar work finished and drag it in to work to get it blasted and primed so I can put some raptor liner on it.
  20. Would you mind elaborating some more on this? After reading this last page, I am coming to the realisation that I am likely screwed for the brake test, as I have just the singles up front and with the RB25DET I will likely get up to speed fairly quickly. So I was thinking I may need to get some twin piston fronts, but if these won't work then I may need to do some excessive research of my own.
  21. Yeah I bough the same one, tbh not overly stoked with the appearance but the specs and warranty seemed good for the price so going to give it a go. I've never used a plasma cutter before, how do you know where to set the air pressure? The manual has 65-87 psi (4.5-6 bar) but that is a pretty massive variance and seems to be pretty hectic pressure, even at the low end, but that may just be because I haven't used one, but it throws a lot of sparks. If you do decide to start making them I will grab a few from you. Just learning at the moment so am sticking with standard consumables for cost reasons. But need to get some in the future and would like my money to stay local,
  22. Will try that on Monday, ran out of time today, generally find them to be very expensive though, so still interested to know if anyone has seen them for sale anywhere else.
  23. Does anyone know where to buy something like this locally? https://www.wurthusa.com/Tools/Chemical-Delivery-Tools/Spray-Tools/EMPTY-CAN-FOR-SCHUTZ-GUN-(US-THREADS)/p/08911101 Just an empty can that screw on to an underseal/Schutz gun. Wanting to try spraying some roll on underseal that is significantly cheaper but seems to be very similar to Raptor liner. TIA
  24. Cheers @Willdat?, yeah it's pretty cool, I'm not sure if it's a good thing or what that it's at the stage it is now, but had I not pulled it to pieces when I was younger with no real way of fixing things I likely would never have dived this far in and it almost would be stock. But such is life/projects, it gets away on ya. One thing I would really like to do in the future once this is done is to get a 2wd version and do the opposite of this, slammed, maybe an SR20DET, Silvia suspension all around. Then put it on a trailer behind this to tow it to the track haha. But like I keep having to tell myself, no new projects until I finish this one (/then buy a house probably).
