Thats cool, I used to be on that forum yonks ago and hes one of the old hands here, I must have dropped out about the time this started.

Here for no other reason.... I've bought Golf with leather seats which has some tears in the side bolster, right where the seat-airbag is. I've been advised that only certain shops can repair/re-stitch these to comply, does anyone know who can do this? Replacement seat cover from VW is now NLA... @64valiant ?

Titles arrived and takeover has been pulled forward to next monday. Once the dust has settled I'll look to do some financial analysis.

You can do the 'smaller' block run of Palmerston/Dunback/Macraes/Middlemarch which is a good trip. If you dont mind the gravel, take the moonlight valley between macraes<->middlemarch

NE valley or port Chalmers up and over to Waitati at Arc for a drink/nibbes Or Highcliff out to the portobello pub and back in on the harbour road

More bits and pieces but this may help someone else out. I found that the steering knuckle for the FloPro item must have a different point in the shaft where the flat is milled for the taper pin to go into compared to whatever 770 copy I have here. I first tried to redrill a new hole for the taper pin but I was unhappy with how little brass was left around it - if it was to split there I would be in trouble. The FP item does have quite a recess milled into the end Decided to make one from scratch out of some square brass bar, in hindsight I could have remilled a new flat in the shaft but dont quite have the setup to do that and many ways to skin a cat.... Took it out for a quick blat in the weekend. Pretty happy with the results, gets up on the plane now superquick (very little bow rise), planes slower and kicks up a nice jet at full speed. Off to Central labour weekend so hopefully get it out a bit more.

So in the context of what we are detailing with, these are better shots (taken last summer) On the shed front I have a decent sized workshop which will fit nicely on the lower lawn. I'll have to get a new vehicle entry from the other street but that wont be a bad thing. Making it big enough so I can fit a 2 post hoist.

Made me think... my grandparents built their retirement house on a block of land outside of TeHoro they used to fatten lambs (its all been subsequently split up. Built in '98 it was already 'dated' by then, faux panelling, popcorn ceilling and cerotone. The 80s were a funny time in housing design.... everyone wanted a 'modern' look but with crappy materials. I'll get some pictures of the current interior to provide some perspective. Current debate is on what we do with the hallway, was thinking to go 'vanilla villa' with floorboards and painted paneling but now methinks taking it all back to the timber.

Spent most of my sunday tearing more of this roughcast off. The house is certainly going to be alot 'lighter' at this rate. Got a bit of timber work ahead of me but so far very little rot. I'll probably reclad down this side and safe the original boards for repairs in other sections. Only some of the residue. This is the south side, the entire wall on the left will get taken out as that is where the new extension will come from. The far wall will probably need reclad as am expecting some rot.

I hear he's a bit tougher than the last repair cert guy. Go play nice... and let me know how you get on....

So all conditions have been met and title/council willing we'll be setted in mid Nov. Once its all paid I'll do a financial wash up of it all to show where the costs were. I mentioned earlier that the whole process as resolved in a decision for us to stay in our current house where we'll undertake a restoration of the existing villa and build an extension + new shed. I'll share some of the detailed plans once they've been drawn up but there is some DIY parts of this project I'll start with early... Unless it gets boring I'll just keep adding to this thread... One of the biggest bugbears I've always had with the house is the ugly roughcast which was put over the weatherboards in the 80s. There is nothing overly sophisticated in getting it off but it is very rewarding.... chuck on some heavy metal from my youth and go to town with the crowbar. The condition of the boards on this side are all pretty good (its the northern aspect) but the otherside I'm expecting to have to reclad.... I'll probably do all the work to get back to bare timber and then pass off to a profesh for painting.

Also, can you unpick the panel to work on it off the car? Would make the job a whole lot easier...

I'd suggest sorting out the damage on the arch first before tackling the broader area of the panel. With the look of that arch it'll be pulling the rest of the panel hollow and you might risk over stretching the center in the effort to get the line back.

On the side of the steps? Yea, the top boards are close to cover up the framing timber behind, kind a rock and a hard place with what we could do to make it functional and attractive.

Spent most of yesterday on the end of a paint brush. Still some more bits to do but definately an improvement. Should get rest of ashpalt down and then we can go back on the market.... kinda over it at this point...

If you line up the jet in/exhaust out flows like in the diagram you dont necessarily divert the flow as most will pass through with some minor turbulence for your engine cooling needs - need to match inlet and outlet pipe IDs. The aim is to mix a the engine hot water outlet with a portion of the raw water to supply water inlet at your thermostat temp (I found a thread which suggests 83deg for holden v6).
