I got given a Tanner saw bench that has like a spindle molder on one end of it to, it came with all the attachments.
They must be rarer? Didnt know they did a 3 in 1. Those saw/planer combos turn up pretty regularly.
Pics?

^ Good point. @azzurro I might have an alloy gear and a few other bits (maybe a rebuilt fuel pump for you) in my barry box of bits.

Yes
- where to find a nice 202.
- why do i even want a 202 (re-rego mainly), the 173 is probably perfectly fine, KPie doesnt really care (unless its a v8), and it wont be the engine from the Torana any more,
You dont, 202-tax

Better give this an update... Yes I did find some genuine replacement parts, and so back together it goes with new bearings/syncros etc....
While I have a transfer box I rebuilt for the back end of the conversion I thought it best to rebuild the one I had here. Needed a new set of main bearings (which cost a few $$$) but everything else was in fair condition.
Its way easier to assemble vertically on the bench. Though I havent yet gone to the effort to move it off yet....
With that done I need to give the engine a good clean up and external refresh, more soon.

Tanner restoration #3 - bandsaw. This came from my wifes late grandfather, old boy was an engineer and worked his whole life at F+P. Sadly the last few years were robbed of him by dementia.
Pretty easy tidy up with this, filled in a few holes on the table, bottom bearings need replaced and some minor fixings remanufactured.
I maintain my view on this Tanner equipment, they're good units because of their heft, they are not refined in their manufacture.

Interesting unit turned up at local auction - Myford ML8 ‘universal woodworker’
I’m not a buyer but someone here might be (and I could help with storage/transport)

MT2 is pretty small, will be quite limiting. Does anyone make conversion kits to fit better spindles on those?
I'll have a look but I doubt it, there's barely any info on the internet on these units.
Its more that likely that anything heavy I'll be using the horizontal setup -

My little victoria mill is the same style as yours. Mine has very little height on the Y axis so I am limited what I can fit in it. With the ER collet adapters you lose a bunch of that Y axis height. But I've seen that you can get Morse Taper collets so you don't lose any of that height. Only place I've seen them is AliExpress but I plan on getting some for mine.

I'm not 100% happy with the drawbar setup as it is so this would be a good outcome. Thanks~!

So jealous of the horizontal, looks like a perfect diy machine!
servo motor is the only option for the axis drive
It will be once I build it up, a 'forever' machine.
How might an electronic numpty like me do that? Is it as simple as a switch and a potentiostat to change the feed rate?

So I got this home without much drama on friday, the prior owner was pretty sad to see it go.
Havent really done much with it other than plug it in and give it a cursory switch on. I do need to pull it apart and see what condition I have. Its pretty tight on the gibs and some backlash in the y-axis. There is a x-axis rapid arm which I havent yet figured out if its more problems than its worth, I do want to mount a basic power feed on that axis so any bright ideas are welcome. Spindle is MT2 so will look for a cheap ER collet adapter.
Came with an ok bit of tooling, the horizonal arbor mount is home made and should work ok with some modification. See the size of one of those cutters! This wee machine would be giving every bit of its ponies for that.
Also, with a bit of house DIY this weekend I finally used the table saw in anger. Some tweaks to do - new riving knife and finger plate but otherwise good to go.

In other news, I had some FB posts up asking for some spare Tanner parts. One guy who reached out said his Grandad was one of the Tanner directors, I asked if there were any documents/manuals from him left as would scan them all digitally. Sadly he said nothing was kept when he moved. Unless there is some Barry out there who is hoarding stuff its mostly all been lost to the sands of time...

Tentatively, I've bought this.
Its an CST (Italian) Astra branded horizonal mill with a vertical adapter included. Comes with an ok amount of tooling
Looks to be all functional but worth a good going over. All manual feed but may have some stepper motors in its future.
Didnt know of this model or was looking for a mill but too much of a good deal 10min from my house.

Was in deepest darkest southland to pickup some new workshop equipment. On the carry out I looked over my shoulder and asked "isnt that an RX3"? Turns out it was and he had a few of them.
This is getting re birthed as a road car. Was fresh from the booth and looked mint.
Sharn over.
