  1. Also re NA/B MX5 motors they have a rear sump, Anglia has a front sump, the Anglia steering gear won't clear the sump. MX5 gearbox also doesn't have a rear gearbox mount. There are threaded holes in the tail shaft that can be used to mount off but there is no mount as such. There is also a cam position sensor driven off the intake cam at the back of the head that adds to the length of the motor.
  2. 2.0 and gearbox from NC MX5. 2.3 from Mazda6 on NC Gear box. 13b and box from an RX 8 if you can find one that's not stuffed. Be prepared for major firewall and tunnel mods. Escort front end swaps can work well and offer rack and pinion steering, better brake and strut options.
  3. Hi Guys . Can someone refresh my memory on high stop brake lights. Are they still a must have on vehicles registered after date "X"? Thanks.
  4. Is the radiator core clean? In my experience the most common cause of overheating with heavy diesel engines is a blocked core from dirt getting blown into it by the fan. have you given it a thorough clean out with compressed air?
  5. I predict that the accelerator pump linkage is adjusted incorrectly. Does it have a Holley carb?
  6. John Brooks Industrial Automation in Christchurch I have purchased HTD Pulleys from them previously.
  7. As long as you take plenty of oil for the Mirage nothing is likely to stop. Unless. . . That's a BG GTX?
  8. Can you block off the iac circuit and see if the idle drops? Have the throttle cables got plenty of slack?
  9. I'd plug weld a nut onto those nubs and be about %60 confident they'd come out first time.
  10. You need some heat in that flange (lol) Weld a couple of nuts onto those studs, get the flange red hot and keep it red hot while you start working the studs out. Edit. Scratch that.
  11. I thought of truck drivers.
  12. Pop the pistons out of the calipers, give it a good clean up with a scotchbrite on the piston and bore. Carefully pluck the seal out and check there isn't a crud build up in the grove where they sit. If you're careful you can re use your seals and dust boots. Good blead up and it should be good. Pushing the pistons back and forward doesn't really remove the crud, it doesn't take much crud to make an imbalance either. Better living everyone.
  13. Lols at the comparisons being drawn between this and other high performance engines of the ilk, such as K series, A series, and Holden 6.
  14. @kws it will help your oil pressure issue. Engines loose pressure due to excessive clearance. Top end noise is probably the lifters bleeding down due to low oil pressure. I'd give it a try if it was mine. Thankfully it's yours though. Edit. Fair enough though if you want to upside. It's the perfect excuse.
  15. Leave the engine in place, pull the sump off and sneak a set of big end bearings into it. If it hasn't run a bearing It's a legitimate fix. It'll solve your problem for a couple of hundred dollars and a few hours work.
  16. Are the side bearings pressed all the way home on the carrier? (I’ve seen it happen before)
  17. Have you calculated the effect of a better flowing exhaust? I theorise it may be directly proportional to the level of how hard it goes vs what it is
  18. No update for a while, I have been slowly pesting though. Made some new motor mounts, connected the hand throttle and altered the factory muffler to clear the bonnet and look more tractoresque. Annoyingly the motor was advertised as having a 1" crank with 1/4 keyway but it turned out to be 25mm with a 7mm keyway. No problem, I got the pulley re keyed and shimmed the difference in diameter with some coke can and lots of locktite. The pulley has provision for a grub screw to help hold it which I'll add when I find one. I also turned up a cupped washer to stop the pulley wanderin. I've used some bearings and another turned up washer to replace the missing belt tensioner. They might fly to bits, time will tell. So if I can get a new drive belt this week I should be able to go for a drive. In other news I visited Dubious Dave today who had found more Pwer Pony parts. Both belt guards which is super handy. They'll need to be modified but it's better than making new ones. Dave also came up trumps with a pair of mower decks. One is stuffed but it has all the mechanical parts on it. The other is in really good condition and appears to be compete. Perfect.
  19. Why hello ThePog. I wonder what the total unladen weight of the Dynafari is in its current iteration?
  20. Please 3d print a new exhaust soon. The suspense is killing me.
