  1. Stand down osgc couriers. It’s small enough to put in an envelope for NZ Post haha
  2. Sounds like a business opportunity.
  3. Yes please! If its a screw on cap. All the ones I can find on IMPEX are push in plug type. Are you going to the supercars?
  4. I took it for a lap of the cul-de-sac, made a couple of wee adjustments. Tuned the idle a wee bit, and then rode it to work. Had to hide out at a mates workshop to escape a rain shower, but i made it. It comfortably does 55km/h on the flat. Its otherwise quite slow haha. The tires are a little larger than the originals and the rear is rubbing on the screws for the little mud flap, so I'll whip that off for the trip home and get some countersunk ones.
  5. But then I got it out of the shed!
  6. The last stretch to finishing this hasn't been without drama of course. I seem to have chosen the wrong model when buying parts from IMPEX. i.e "Its the square headlight model" *orders the square headlight from IMPEX* FUCK IT. "Oil tank cap is broken" *orders oil tank cap from IMPEX* MOTHER FUCKER. (Luckily the lid off a tin of thinners kind of nearly fits) The next issue was, that after I ran it up in the video above, I took off to work... and then in the afternoon got a text from a grumpy wife because the entire house stunk of petrol... Turns out the rubber gasket on the fuel petcock doesn't seal any more, so I've made a paper gasket which seems to be doing the trick for now.
  7. Yeah will see what its like to ride tonight hopefully! To be honest, I'm probably not going to be using this for the big adventure rides, this will be for riding to work and taking on camping trips, so hopefully the 50 will be adequate. PW80 does sound like an ideal upgrade though! @alfalfa seems to enjoy his V50.
  8. I got ants in my pants this morning so I took a coffee break from work, connected up the wiring, filled the fluids, primed the auto lube pump, mixed up some oily petrol for safety, and kicked it in the guts. Stoked!
  9. I gave the new lever an absolute hiding with a file. Took if from ~10mm thick to <6mm. I also machined up a bush from an old bolt. It looks like it will fit now, but not properly tested. I've also: straightened and painted the rear rack Waterblasted the cover and put a seat back together for the time being Painted the front end and started to re-assemble that Changed the oil Installed the chain and cover Re-registered it Hoping to finish assembly and fire it up tonight!
  10. Oi, don't get distracted by mercs... Just go and hit buy now on that Jaaaaaag
  11. I re-assembled the handlebars and dash last night. I was quite excited to open my Genuine Yamaha Parts bags only to find that the brake lever doesn't fit I will have a hunt through the shed this afternoon and see what other levers I can find that might fit or can be modified to get me going. Gutted!
  12. so it was bent twisted, and bent all over the place. ive managed to get it fairly straight, and got the front end in primer.
  13. Slower than I’d like progress last night. I cleaned all the gunge off the engine and got that installed. But then went to fit the foot pegs, I have 3 sets… the one which was originally on it, which is broken and has had multiple dodgey repairs. The next I brought off trademe is twisted and bent in multiple planes. The third I brought off trademe turned out to be a home made replica, which I was planning on using but it must have been made around a different engine as it doesn’t fit…
  14. Well since our caravan is named George, and this is painted to match, perhaps I should name him Andrew Ridgeley.
  15. Ha! Nah, no name at this stage. The yellow peril is taken by my mates 100cc swapped DIO.
  16. Got some work done last night. It’s hard to get a decent photo of it since my shed is such a mess at the moment. i need to come up with a seat solution. I’ve got 2 x V50 seats that are varying levels of fucked. I think I could make another seat pan but that would take time… I do have a generic china cafe seat that might adapt without too much effort to get me going. In a wee hurry as I want to be riding this next week. im loving all the black and yellow. I’ll get a leg shield for it and I think I’m going to need to paint that black too!
  17. New tires, tubes and rim tape. The wheels were sand blasted to take the chrome off and etch primed, then zinc-it, then black zinc. Annoyingly one of them stuck to the saw horses and left a weird spot on the lip, so I'll have to try and tidy that up later.
  18. Also, the courier brought my birthday present today: And I just got home from an extended lunch break cos the weather is mint today... I'm fucking fizzing. Can't wait to start putting it back together!
  19. I might have to get a "Not flash, but it will do" sticker made up for the bike, it seems to be a theme
  20. There was a rust hole in one of the rims around the stem hole, so I welded it up. I was really quite chuffed with myself for A) Not blowing the hole through into the stem hole. b) Not welding the spoke nipple to the rim. Paint is progressing, but no photos yet. Not flash, but it will do.
  21. I finally managed to find make time to lay down some primer. Now its sanding time I suppose The eagle eyed viewer may notice that painting it with the center stand installed is a bit of an odd thing to do. This is because the mounting shaft is bent, so the installation is permanent. I guess that also means it will be colour matched to the frame, also an odd thing to do...
  22. Welcome back RookieDave! Sick rig. Do a skid.
