  1. Yeah that seems to be the norm with the mk5/6 fsi turbos and friends same year s3 I already got some penrite synthetic here will compare use with the vw recommended Castrol that's in it. I got a feeling it doesn't matter what oil you use it will chug it,what would be good to know is if there's a difference in carbon build up in the head between different oils.
  2. How many ks in a year you do?
  3. So previous oil consumption talk. I'm on the low mark on my dipstick after 5800kms added litre to get to high mark That's about normal for these from what I've read Will try suggested oil this time round and compare use at same distance Vw handbook says 15k oil changes so would have to top up 2 or 3 times between services lol Im gona do oil every 6000. I hope engine burnt most of it and it's not in my intake ports.
  4. This guy does a in depth review on it https://youtu.be/faG27fK5BbY
  5. I run a ultragauge it works similar to scan gauge but has way more options. little bit spendy but worth it imo Main reason I went with it is you turn your car on and it's on,don't have to open app then bluetooth connect You can set alarm alerts so if you go over pre set it will tell you Knowing you torque converter Temps trans pan temp intake air temp etc etc etc is pretty cool on the fly. It will also reads and clear codes Think there knock off ones for cheap but probably a lucky dip
  6. May aswell chuck a reverse camera at it "while your there" The one for mine still interacts with digital display on my dash, don't know how I just went to importer of headunits with my car and asked which ones are plug and play and they had 5 options When I was reading up on it some people were getting parasitic drain on battery from some headunits and not all steering wheel ready headunits will work with car
  7. There's good choice of vw group specific head units Recommend getting android auto with steering wheel control Little active sub make it sound way better too
  8. Do you want to watch what your cars doing live with the app running or just for checking and clearing codes?
  9. For a older traction control system it actually works alrite in the wet doesnt just kill the power, still end up turning it off for true fwd experience
  10. Few revs with the milltek
  11. I did have issue with the sway bar drive shaft fouling,on the eibachs the sway bay mount is adjustable. Took a few go's to get it rite Wheel alignment tech got it all in the green so I should be good on the cert front. Hey cletus how many months in advance do I have to book for cert and is a front bolt on brakes upgrade from a newer faster golf r/s3 need certing? Standard brakes do work good but bigger brakes would look cooler
  12. Wheel alignment done so taking it on road trip for long weekend. As a bonus the milltek exhaust had one of those spacers on rear probe, after clearing engine light and a few good hoons hasn't come back Have to save some more money now get injectors serviced and tune.
  13. I'm thinking I should get this certed before next wof. With coilovers is it still wheel alignment printout with it in spec and lowest point has atleast 100mm clearance and no design disasters with suspension arms axle angles etc? Front bumper lip is 95mm everything underneath is over 100mm
  14. Local alignment shop was booked out today,so can't go for a decent hoon dam it
  15. Coilovers in 25mm drop all round Looks bang on to me New exhaust in aswell and its not that loud just bit deeper tone and gear changes sound bit sweeter
  16. Got the rear suspension in. Have to buy some triple square bits I think to strip down the front Fuck vw you use torx/12 point star sockets/triple square and what metric bolts they use are weird sizes like 18mm and that's just removing front struts . I do prefer working on jap cars
  17. I've got a escort passport x50 pretty old now but gives me a decent heads up with cop cars (ka band) but doesn't pick up mobile speed cameras. Has picked up laser a few times but wasn't speeding so don't know how good that works. What I have noticed over the years is low percentage of cop cars are actually beaming out ka band mainly highway patrol.
  18. My tow bar delete didn't work out ended up being a jdm rear bumper But I found a miltek turbo back stainless exhaust for it for not alot of moolaa
  19. Scored a rear section exhaust with muffler delete and a rear bumper so can get rid of the tow bar and not have a hole there. And Sunday Monday to work on golf! should get bumper exhaust and coilover sorted but could get side tracked by beers and bbqs will add some pics as I get shit done over weekend
  20. Well I can see this happening again once I lower it on the coilovers then I did find a few cases on a mk5 specific forum where it happened just by changing wheel diameter even though overall wheel/tyre diameter is minimal, just hope that's the case and it's not a sensor(never did it with the factory wheels over 6000ks)
  21. After the quick read I did on side of road faulty sensor can do it aswell. Maybe you got a exposed wire or moisture getting into the sensor
  22. The tyre warning light came on when I was driving it the other night My initial thought was fuck there's no pressure sensors in the new wheels After a quick Google search on the side of the road they don't use tyre pressure sensors. It uses the abs/speed sensors and probably thought something was up because I changed wheel size. Did the reset procedure put handbrake on turn ignition on hold traction control button down hang tongue out to the left and it went away and hasn't come back yet.
  23. Had the same intercooler on my gtx Also had a vj23 inlet manifold and front bumper off a gtr Went real good
  24. Doesn't look gay at stock height but a smidgen moar lo will look way better I think
  25. Took it for a drive last night to test out the new kicks
