Slacker_Sam's 1986 Volvo 360GLT Eurotrash Spec
Borgweiser replied to Slacker_Sam.'s topic in Other Projects
Sweet cars, had a couple myself. Both blue and GLT's, one I did the sneaky 2.3 turbo swap with. Piece of piss to do, bolt up and just some trickery with the exhaust and boom, skids on.. -
Yeah, go see Roy McGuinness, I'm not a LMVD anymore.. Also Roy's valuations are really worth something to insurance companies, they recommend him to clients. He's been doing it nearly 40 years and in that time they have never questioned any of his valuations as he is honest but fair. Tell him James sent ya.

Wanted: Rattle gun and/or strong people
Borgweiser replied to Llama's topic in Upper North Island Region
please don't put a hammer anywhere near it. Good way to fuck everything surrounding the nut including yourself. Use strong arm bar as stated, use a jack handle if you need more leverage. Get heaps of height and make sure it's secure as stated, it will come off. If it is really stuck which I doubt, put strong arm bar horizontal to floor in direction of rotation, drop onto ground and get someone to help you push it backwards -
Pretty sure I had dibs on this, remember this car from the Hillman club, pretty sure the guy who owned it was into conspiracy theories and running cars on water etc :/ Don't go too low, I done it before on a Super Minx and it was awful and chewed up now stupidly hard to find suspension bits, jus sayin..

Disregard statement about coils, just realised you have earlier M104 with dizzy cap, vacuum leaks are usually at the lights or at the transmission modulator, also may be making the box sluggish. Unplug air mass meter when running and if idle smoothes out you found the problem. The mileage on your car should be irralevant in terms of the bottom end, they generally are bulletproof.
-
Ring startech in auck, genuine/oem plug leads for a M104 for around $150, check the coils too, there was a supersession to a newer type due to misfiring, older ones can be modified by running a couple of beads of mig down the outside to prevent tracking. M104 vs Jeep six is like comparing a DC3 with Concorde.. The old pushrod six is a good motor, also way too tall to fit in a Mercedes engine bay, the M104 is in a different league technology wise/ 1/10th the weight.. And a million times better than a RB motor. Drop in a 3.2 M104 and upgrade software and watch it fly.

CatatonicChimp's 1977 Trabant 601
Borgweiser replied to CatatonicChimp's topic in Project Discussion
WVC did the last one to come into Wellington so would at least have an idea what they were doing. -
Basically this, if it was made in Japan of the same age, wayward of handling and looked like it was shaped with the ugly stick but was capable of having a dildo gearstick. It would be hailed as OS worthy (trololol) Like all Jaguars it looks decades newer than it is.. Even tho most of the development was done by British Leyland! I for one am happy to see this piece of radness here, but so not keen for what is os/classic debate. Just more impressed that all the dashboard lights work and the boot isn't full of water.. TWR kit and some bad ass two toning please

If it kept spinning i'd be more worried.. Best thing to do, whip wheels off and push pads back into the calipers, if they go in with no more than hydraulic pressure they legit. If they are stiff, remove pad, spray piston with crc, and remove crud from visible part of piston and rotate whilst forcing in. better living everyone
-
How much resistance are we talking when you spin the wheel you woofter? If you can spin it i'd say its normal
