  1. So, ever since I lowered the wagon ive never been happy with how the front sits. Theres an awful amount of guard gap but I cant go any lower with the standard struts without it resting on the bump stops. I needed to make "JUDDIES" or "JUSTIES" or how ever you young-ens say adjustable suspension. So, with a lot of research and referring to Seedy Als guide I decided to hack up a pair of Sigma struts. I purchased adjustable platforms and top hats from George Stocks. I also purchased a pair of SW20 (i think) rear inserts that were about 50mm shorter which meant I needed to cut the strut tube. Strut tube cut and ready to be welded back together A test fit to see how everything sits. With the different shaft size of the insert I couldnt use the factory top hat. I purchased some adjustable camber plates to suit. A little spacer was made to sit between the top spring perch and the top hat. The top spring perches didnt have a locating indent in them. I got a quote to have this machined fro $200! So I get my maori ingenuity on DONE Ordered some springs with keepers. And all fitted up I trial fitted one strut and found that the spring rate was way too aggressive. At the lowest setting the car was higher than before and was solid. I bought some more springs that have a friendlier spring rate So here are a bunch of pics showing the height before installing the new struts, new struts at max height and new struts at max low (actually could go down another 15mm) New struts - Max height New struts - Max low Measurements taken from top of arch to centre of stub axle Obligatory chassis rail comparison As it sits at max low, im sad to say, its too low. But, I can easily raise it to the perfect height. I had to use my roller blade wheels as the wheels I was using wont fit the new struts. Pics Thanks
  2. Both?. Its for my wagon and the guards are different but it would be a good reference
  3. Hey bro Would you be able to measure something on the turbo sigma for me? Could you measure from the corner of the windscreen to the fender mirror? Thanks
  4. Decided to try and find out where this annoying rattle sound was coming from in the engine bay. At first I thought it was the water pump but was actually the tensioner bearing. So I replaced them both, along with a new cambelt. Also installed a thermostat as it didnt have one and the gauge struggled to move without one. All was going well driving this car daily till about a month ago. It developed (what I thought at the time) a strange miss The car would run fine and drive in a 50kmh zone ok. When I hit the motorway it would cut out, jerk and run like balls. Young Bigfoot came to my aide one night on SH1. So, I decided to replace items in the ignition system. I replaced the coil, dizzy cap, rotor, condensor, points, leads and spark plugs all with new items. Unfortunately this didnt fix it. I described the symptoms to my father and informed that the issue is fuel related. Carb off for a clean Tank out for a clean New (old) fuel filter from Dads parts stock Went to replace the fuel pump and as I removed the pump I found the spring that normally sits behind the lever arm sitting out of place Its fitted with a rare 2 piece spring Acquired a new fuel pump and installed it Drove it home for the first time since cleaning out the fuel system and it drives like a champ again! Happy days
  5. I tried to get Tank to buy this. He was too caught up with C10s Sweet score
  6. Managed to score a cluster with a tacho. Extremely useful for the big RPMs this car can hit! So, out with the old.... ...and in with the old. Also found a front bumper thats a bit straighter Ive got my eyes on an injected 4G15. Im just waiting for the guy to drop his pants on the price and ill grab it. This was meant to be my daily, its now turning into another project. Story of our lives!
  7. Still havent driven this thing home yet. Its been sitting at work waiting for a replacement radiator. The previous owner said that the radiator leaks and that it has a blown head gasket (after money was exchanged ) They did include a head set..... When I picked it up from the car haulage company and drove it to work it was puking coolant. The state of the radiator was toast. Luckily someone was selling a MkI Mirage radiator on Trademe so I scored it, received it and installed it. In the hole I dont think it has a BHG as it struggles to get hot (no thermostat tho) The water that came out wasnt oily. It does need a new water pump (noisy).
  8. I scored some wheels off Tank a while ago in anticipation of getting one of these things. They're Enkei 知りますか 14x6 Didnt know what tyre size to run on these. I ended up choosing 155/55/14. Found a pair on trademe from JP Auto Spares. I asked if they had another pair which they did and had them fitted up. Awesome service and very cheap. The Japanese guy there was extremely thorough. Cant praise them enough. So all fitted up Time to try them on. Side profile pic for reference And with them fitted I need to sort the front rims out. The rotors have bolts on the mounting face and the rims foul on them. Ive asked a few people for ideas. And of course you need to do a MS Panit lowering job Now to get it around that height. If you've had experience with lowering a Mirage or fitting mags to the front please let me know Thanks
  9. So, I finally bought one. I was hesitant in buying this one but not many have popped up for sale. Typically, as soon as I get this one a few have popped up on various websites. I was told that it was a sweet runner, no worries. It wasnt till I handed over the cash is when they started to mention the faults......The joys with dealing long distance. Anywho, this is my (soon to be once I fix a few things) daily driver. It runs the powerhouse 4G11 and yes, it has the SUPER SHIFT Plans are to add some wheels, some low, and eventually some (slight) power
  10. Scored a short shifter for the KM132 This is the measurement from 3rd to 4th with the standard shifter Roughly 110mm of travel. Here are the measurements of the short shifter from 3rd to 4th Roughly 90mm of travel The shifter is in a different position to the standard one. Took a little getting use to. When its in 4th, it looks like its in neutral. That is all
  11. Why is all the good stuff on the other island?!
  12. So I got a message today from Grant that my car is ready to be picked up. I shot over in my Mazda Demio courtesy car (blasting Mai FM because jap import) and had a look at the finished product. (Insert David Freiburger "BAM!") I am so happy that I decided to get the rust done because its mint, and its done right. No more hoodlining touching my head. And finally my fender mirrors Having the car painted highlights how many different golds there are on the car. So im going to save a bit of coin and have the entire car painted. But thats WAY way in the future. I would like to thank (and also apologise to) Grant and the team at GT Refinishers. So, there kinda was a silver lining to getting hit by a truck!
  13. I enlisted the expert services of Grant at GT Refinishers I knew the quarter had been repaired in the past but apparently there was 10mm thick bog in some sections. Dent pushed out pretty good As for the rust, as usually, it was much worse than expected. Thank god I didnt tackle this myself. (Sorry Grant) Looks like water may have leaked into the roof from the roof rack mount and settled in between the skins. Hoodlining out
  14. So this happened Apparently not everyone knows the term "Merge like a zip". Ended up bump'n and grind'n up against a truck. Needless to say, I was fairly pissed when this happened. So, off to the panel beater it went. Whilst it was there I decided to get a few things done that ive been holding off. This rust in my roof has been getting worse and worse And have these fender mirrors colour matched The hoodlining also started to sag badly. You'll have to use your imagination for that.
  15. YES, tell us more about this glorious place. Would you be able to take pics next time you're there?
  16. I have tried standard Lancer EX 13" wheels on the front and they didnt fit. Could try spacers. I cant remember if it was the smaller diameter being the issue or something else.
  17. Hey bro, nice Sigma Have you tried the modgies on? I have a feeling that 13" rims dont clear the front calipers.
  18. Yeah, I change the ownership to the new owners myself online. But I never fill out the disposal form. Wondered what happens when I dont fill out the disposal form.
  19. Not really related to this topic but didnt want to start a new thread. Ive sold a car. What happens if I dont fill in the disposal form?
  20. Was that Maxs old wagon? From Tauranga ways?
  21. Not much going on with this car. Its actually been off the road for a while. Entered the annual Oldschool Drag Day this year which meant I had to get it road legal again. Took it for a WOF and failed on pitman arm. Purchased a new pitman arm and fitted new ball joints whilst I was at it. Needless to say, they needed replacing. Obtained the drag pass So now to install this So I can do some of these Lets hope the weathers fine!
  22. No, I haven't plugged it up to check. Ive put a gauge in the fuel line and seems to be running at the right pressures 48-50psi with the vacuum hose disconnected 40psi with the vacuum hose connected There is about 500mm of hose between the fuel rail and the FPR. Obviously the FPR would be better directly off the fuel rail (as per factory). Could this be a possible issue? Should I be watching what the fuel pressure does at WOT?
  23. Sorry, I didn't explain the motor. Its a 4G63 DOHC injected. I assume the computer looks after timing?
