  1. I just had my fiat 128 revinned on Wednesday. It had no papers and I kept the black plates. If you have no papers you need to pick up a statutory declaration form from VTNZ or here http://www.justice.govt.nz/tribunals/trans-tasman-occupations-tribunal/documents/TTO%200609%202.pdf you take it to the citizens advice and get a JP to witness you signing it- I took a copy of the trademe add and a note from the seller stating there were no papers and the chassis number and old plate number. Cost Free to keep the black plates Email Tania.Taite@nzta.govt.nz she is the one that handles the black plate issues. You need to supply a pic of both the plates to show they are in good condition. She searches the data base to make sure the plates are on it and sends you a email with a reference number and a phone number that you hand over at the testing station. The Black plate issue seems to be a well hidden secret because the testing station had never had anyone or heard of anyone keeping their plates. But once they called Tania instant approval - and remember that keeping ya black plates knocks $19.95 off the revinning price I hope this helps some one P.S> stay away from Sylvia park VTNZ for revinning I have a 1 inch dent in my front valance and had to get a cert for it. The Cert inspector called the VTNZ guy a total F#%kwit .
  2. thanks guys the only thing thats worrying me is that the twin sidies are going to be thirsty but their throaty song will take my mind off that i'm sure. Sorry about the engine colour but thats what happens when you have multi half filled cans of engine enamel. Thanks again Ladaspeed re your advice on lengthening the left headlight loom to move the fuse box. I was hoping it was going to be a simple cut and join wiring job but Vlad must have been on the vodka the day he did the wiring cos all the wires were the wrong colours and the fuses were all over the place tho I did manage to mount the fuse box above the parcel tray and save the glove box. According to Guy crofts book the engine in its current spec will put out 155hp at the flywheel and have heaps of low /mid range torque which is a slight increase over the present 78hp of the lada 1600
  3. Originally I was going to repower the niva with a fiat 2l that I got acouple of years ago but decided to sell it instead and repower a lada saloon instead with this is a late 82 2l from a 131, has the following done to it new valves and guides new borgo pistons and rings 9.6 cr all new bearings new water pump new 215mm clutch /pressure plate new belt tensioner and pullys and cam gears Ported and polished head Marelli pointless ignition 125t manifold and re-manifactured DHLA40's with 34 chokes All new leads and hoses I am running the larger clutch etc and changed from the fiat cable to hydraulic the design is from a friend that ran a fiat in a Niva. the slave will be bleed first then attached to bellhousing- I had bleed my last lada slave cylinder like this because the nipple was too close to the housing so i know how easy it is to do. At the moment i am just sorting out the exhaust before starting the swap
