  1. Ask your certifier for their NDT form. I got mine welded and tested out of town and didn't know there was a form till he gave it to me, oops... It basically said what they were looking for test wise. They might all have different requirements though, but worth asking to save a headache later.
  2. Yeah I'm sure those ones get it done. The ratchet ones are decent for sure. Now every time I see a crimp done before I got them as very average. So one day I'll redo those. One day... Doesn't help I forget the exact usage so have to watch a YouTube short on their best method each time. So many wasted terminals doing it not quite right.
  3. Whooping cough all over the place here, and they are too busy to test unless you're already fucked. So i'll sit this one out in case one of the sprogs coughs is actually the bad one.
  4. If you have small enough pliers i'm sure you can get it done. I also rock Aliex crimpers which have a bunch of jaws, use them on everything so was a good investment.
  5. Working on that whip I hope! Waiting on plumber to install water filter at mine and some other jobs, before I can move my car back to be worked on. That's my excuse for not working on mine right now anyway.
  6. That's along the same lines of not losing cover if WOF / REGO not current, unless something contributed to the accident that wasn't up to WOF spec. Just have to keep in mind why adjustable arms and the likes need a cert, because they can be made out of cheese. Or made from inappropriate parts that are not acceptable here, but in Florida for example cheese is likely acceptable so long as it doesn't breach EPA rules.
  7. I went to Ryco site to sort fitment then using the "garage" feature on SCA it said the Penrite was equiv. I'm sure they will all be in the ballpark, it's nothing special engine wise.
  8. Yeah I can't easily spot that spec for any filter, so I guess it's time to just send it. I can be the first person in the world who bothers to rebuild a 3AU. EV's are still pretty service heavy. I did the reduction fluid when I got mine and it will be due again in another 10 years, outrageous.
  9. Thanks for that, good to know! Yeah it seems like it will fit and it's got to be at least 50% bigger overall. O-ring looks to be about the diameter of the mating surface without removing the filter to check. It has an anti drain valve in it so should be good and it's only the Corolla. Thanks.
  10. Have a hopefully basic question regarding oil filters. I ordered a new one as I had credit at SCA, it's large diameter than the quite small OEM filter on the car. It seems like the OEM one has the o-ring right near the edge of the filter and the replacement one I got (penrite, which is equiv model to the Ryco recommended) has the o-ring inset from the edge. If the o-ring fits to the housing correctly does that mean it's all good? I have a Bosch filter on the shelf I got from RockAuto yonks ago and it had the same difference so I just got a new filter and left that on the shelf. But now that I have yet another filter that is larger diameter, it's got me wondering. Does the o-ring provide the only mating surface the filter needs or does the outer metal part of the filter form part of the seal / connection. It seems like it will work since all the guts are within the o-ring. I'm just unsure if the lip of the filter does anything or not. Cheers
  11. Not steel, but when I used to braise copper pipe where it went into a building, i'd wrap a wet rag around the pipe which stopped any heat getting past it. I can't comment on how the electrons will react to a wet rag, but I feel like if you had one tucked in against the exterior panel and in that wheel arch lip on the right, it would help a lot. I've only ever done MIG on my cars and a single spot weld in one area, then moving to another area to put one does keep the heat down a lot. Just my thoughts anyway, i'm sure others have done very similar jobs to yours. Only mentioning it as the wet rag wrapped around the pipe was a very simple solution but worked perfectly.

Your eyes can absorb the good stuff faster than other areas. So you really want to protect them in some way as much as your breathing. I considered it cheap insurance when I was doing my project to get a full mask, they seem a lot more spendy when I just did a quick look though. I wasn't spraying, but was brushing on 2k epoxy in tight spaces so got one for that reason. I use the same mask when i'm chemical spraying my roof too, just need new filters every time I do that job.
