  1. Got me a LF guard off trademe, $40 bucks! Am well pleased. Van is sold so car is off to panel beater on Friday, dude works by himself and is ment to be the man, so hopefully will do a good job. Now to save for paint! (and a LSD!)
  2. I say we put on our white pointy hats, light up our torches and huge lower case T, hunt down the chap that made it, and show him what we think of his auto mechanical abilities with a tree and some rope. Will be mean when its going rite tho, how much them suckers weigh? about 900 or so?
  3. Haha, chur, well I think you can do it with heaps of walkie talkies, just tape two together with the talk button held in on one of them, I think that works? The Rotomas is the perfect place for late night racing, nice windy hill road with no houses/drive ways/other roads coming onto it, would be kool to go for a hoon knowing nothings coming the other way.
  4. Yep, still has stock shim set up, so know the cams must be under the shim under bucket threshold. From memory the cams are close to a rally grind? guy wanted mid range grunt. Speaking of windy roads, I had a plan to make lots of repeaters for hand held radios, and position them along a strech of the Rotomas, have a person at each end of the length of road to let you know whats coming toward you, and then take turns racing up and down the road late at night, even found safe spots to turn round and everything, just cost of making repeaters was a bit high, as you needed so many to cover all the black spots, was even going to have a light to let you know if you had gone out of range for safety! Yes, I have way to much time on my hands at work.
  5. Ohhhh, ok, thanks for clearing that up. How much do those liteace diff heads go for?
  6. At the start in the specs its got "RE-SHIMMED Toyota Hilux Diff(LSD) with Disc brakes. Ratio =4.8" I dont know jack about this stuff, but dont hilux's have a G series diff? has it got a hilux head in a ae86 housing or some shit? (T = AE86 dont it?)
  7. This is prolly a stupid question, but this cars running a hilux rear end ayy? so the front diff of a 4wd liteace has the same CW&P as a hilux? not a AE86? I thought I read somewhere that the liteace 4wd front CW&P would fit in a std AE86? I must be trippin.
  8. Yeh, they were, friggin hard ride tho, way to hard for road. Haha, yeh, i'd be interested to know how much higher that dyno reads then others. And the cams were custom ground for a street stock (I think thats the class it was?) I brought an ae86 stock car to get motor/box/diff/link/struts n shit for a starlet I was building, dude that built stock car said kelford did them, but they have no markings on them, so rang kelford's and chap said they would have been done a long time ago if they had no marks, would have been a build up and regrind. Was told they where pretty hot, stock car sounded like a rotary, but I think that was due to huge over lap set on cam gears. So yeh, have no idea what they are Not many dents, but a fair bit of rust in cunty places. A drag you say? haha, Id get well and truely fucked over, what about a race up a windy mountain pass?
  9. Mean idea, a few months ago I started a little project like this, trying to make a 1920's motorcycle replica out of an old push bike and a 2hp side shaft B&S motor. What kinda style you gonna do this in?
  10. Well went around four of the better panel and paint shops here in Whakatane, to get rust and dents taken out, get full respray including engine bay and shit, and get bumpers/side skirts cleaned up, even with me pulling car to bits and giving them a rolling shell, is gonna set me back near on $5G ......... WHOE SHIT I SAID. Was expecting about $3G, the paint side of it costs a lot more then I realised. Guess thats what ya gotta pay to get a decent job tho. So anyone wanna buy a liteace and a drum kit?
  11. Nah, im just gonna get the guards rolled and one day space the wheels out a bit more. Im a fan of the clean simple look. Old motor had same head (just not ported/polished or 3 angle grind) with a shaved blue top block with std internals, also had std injectors, no quads, and had shit headers with 2 inch exhaust. Also had diff fly wheel, and a real early link. Was done at Dr Repower in TGA both times, their dyno is a bit happy, but I wanted to see the gain in power with the new gear, so went back there.
  12. Cheers guys. Yeh rust in it was very well hidden, under a lot of bog mainly, prolly not super bad by some ppl standards, but I wasnt pleased. Got next friday arvo off to take it round some panel beaters and price up getting it taken out and a full respray. Im not sure if air intake makes a big diff or not, induction noise is like 70% quieter, so sounds like its less grunty, but quads and shit are a lot colder, and filter surface area is way bigger now, so should be making a difference.
  13. Well, fuck all has been done to this. I got a house, so have little time and no money, and another car that needs time and money spent on it, and my business associate it going back to uni, so this project is pretty much a no go. If anyone wants any parts or some LUSH 12 inch volk 3 piece wheels, hit a brother up.
  14. Now onto getting rust/dents taken out, and stripped ready for a respray. FUN.
  15. Ive been working on a cold air box for a little while, I wanted to get some fresh air into the engine, and also get rid of the filter socks as they have bugger all surface area. Just finished the intake, have not had time to make the partition yet, which will box off the filter from the engine bay. Better fucking work, took ages to make. Be mean with partition in there. Only down side is that the induction roar is now quiet as, can hear what the exhaust sounds like/leaks sound like.
  16. MORE shit: To stop me flapping about on the track To keep motor happy Sorting out whats gonna go where Pointless speed holes Fancy ass artistic picture of Cyclops Levin to finish.
  17. Some more shit: (I'd just like to point out that the duvet under the coilover's aint mine, is a random one I found laying about, and Im not sure what the stain's on it are??) Crappy pics of car with new rims: MORE random photo's: Got the street fins and semi slicks for that 80's JDM race look (just need 1 foot more dish and TRD N2 flares) Old and new struts King stars, the King/stars of tyres.
  18. Discussionary activity regarding the following media can be located here: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?showtopic=25550 My project car is a 1984 NZ New AE86 Levin, i've had it since Jan 07. I'm slowly collecting the missing parts and tidying it up. Had it dyno'd a while back, the old motor made 151hp (113kw) atw's, my new motor made just on 185hp (137kw) atw's Blue line is new motor, Red line is the old motor. Engine: Blue top big port head (ported + polished + 3 angle valve grind) Unknown cams? Adjustable cam gears TRD Group A valve springs 365cc 4agze injectors Small port red top block Silver top 20V crank/con rods Wiseco forged/coated pistons (around 12.5 : 1 comp ratio) Silver top 20V ITB's on Techno toy tuning manifold Link ECU 4 - 1 headers, 2 1/4 inch under diff exhaust Super mega extra external oil drains of tumekeness
  19. Thanks for all the info guys, very helpful. Gay thing is I got stuck into this last night and turns out rust is pretty damn bad, I dont have the tools or skills to sort this, and will prolly end up fucking it up, so am going to have to pay someone to do it. So looks like its gonna get panel and paint very soon. Will be nice to have it all one shade of blue Just sucks I will have to sell van or drum kit to pay for it
  20. Looks mean, wheels look nice and retro. Been round Taupo in it yet?
  21. Got a few questions for the proper panel beaters out there: When you have patched a hole with new steel, do you etch primer the steel before you bog or is it better to bog straight onto the steel? What brand/type of bog is best for finishing? What tools are a must have to do a decent job of panel beating? Any hammers or dollies you can recommend? Cheers.
  22. Dude on TM replied, will do 2x 15x8 N9 offset for $652.50, or 2x 15x10 N26 offset for $697.50. Not toooo bad I guess for brand new 10 inch wide wheels? Have to see if I can fit 10's on the back without hacking up car. Truenotch, what wheel/tyre sizes do you run on your car? I noticed the N2 cars in japan run upto 245's on the back, seems mighty wide for a lil car?
  23. Just open laptop up till its flat, and duct tape it to the outside of the windscreen. Heads up as fuck.
