  1. Yeah it has the wrong cap, but the cap does have a vent hole so that shouldnt be an issue
  2. After meeting a local small engine fiend earlier in the year, I started dreaming again of owning a two-stroke lawnmower. I was lucky enough with the help of Richie (Snoozin), Chris_R and Neal (threeonthetree) to get this down from the North Shore to OSNATS 16: I fell hard for her looks. On the trademe auction, it was stated as having possible carb issues, and on the last night of nats Chris and Neal were ever so eager to fire her up. She runs, but only momentarily. So during Easter weekend, I pulled the carb off for a looksie and clean. No issues found with the carb. However, the two stage throttle control isnt functioning from its linkages, so next step is to remove the flywheel and explore why.
  3. The factory Holden diffs for that model are cone-type LSD and they are poose. From my experience, if theres a shudder, its terminal. Worn cone surfaces. There were plenty of occasions like this when working for a Holden dealership, especially with cop cars under 100km on the clock. Using the GM additive did not reduce the shudder, the only fix was to fit another diff (used) and hope for the best that it didnt have the same issue.
  4. So these wheels: became these thanks to Aidan at Pine Engineering: Carb manifold flange made thanks to John VB Precision Engineering: Picked up some mint used GX mirrors ex Japan: Scored some interesting looking monsoon shields: Time for a test fit: Drilled new strut holes 30 degrees, more camber = more caster: Started looking into TRD LSD centre swap into H165 housing, some machining required: Electronic distributor adapter made for drilling rollpin hole in shaft thanks again to JVB Precision Tinkering: How the coupe was looking, time to prep body for restoration:
  5. Now FOR SALE, need to concentrate on other projects and its not getting used. Great for garden ornament, restoration project, or use as is. $100.
  6. Rescued this from going to scrap a few weeks ago. Would make an ideal shed/garden ornament. Surprisingly has no rust in the frame, guards are healthy but flimsy, tyres are shot, steering bearings are stiff, rear hub brake still works. Fitted new tubes and tyres, regreased front wheel bearings yesterday: Went to the infamous Round Again Cycles and bought a couple of Miller dynamo headlights to make one: Next up is wire the original dynamo to run headlight and taillight, and source a taillight lense from Round Again Cycles. Maybe even a slightly better condition seat.
  7. Bought this off a fellow QCR member who got it off trademe, seller stated the kickstart was 'faulty'... Cracked engine open to inspect: Gearbox naffed: Sourced a cheap unknown condition donor bottom end for $20, and checked out what I had bought: Has mint 3 speed gearbox: Assembled motor with new gearbox, new gaskets, honed barrel and new OEM rings: Motor, exhaust, carb (cleaned and unseized), side stand and pegs fitted: Bike had no chain, used 427carguys unwanted ST70 chain: Bike ready to ride, no tailight, no indicators, no rego, no worries: Bike does 40mph all day everyday, pulls hard, gearbox is mint, poor exhaust repair in past has blown apart to open pipe. Future plans are triple clamps for handlebar change, straighten bent front forks, new seat, rowdy exhaust, rear swingarm change, rear shocks/spring change. Have scored an epic deal on some new Metzeler 120/90/10 and 130/90/10 tyres:
  8. Overdue update, completed gearbox: Seat mount adapters: 280zx seat fitted: Electronic dizzy conversion started:
  9. Steering box twists chassis rail under load, giving less direct feel. Brace sharpens up steering response. No idea on fender mirrors, havent looked hard enough.
  10. Fitted Maddat steering box brace last night:
  11. Rebuilding of a good 5speed currently underway... Cant wait til my front lip arrives!
  12. Seedy, Enkeis are all alloy no steel. Scott, Ill do a parts display pic once both lips arrive..
  13. Cheers mate! I have a lot of goodies waiting to be fitted to this! Yeah tbh Im a little unsure on the Enkeis too but with a dress-up they may just look the bizz. Unfortunately the MK2s are the expected and preferred wheel of choice by so many that I kinda want to stare away from that on this car.
  14. Another ratty project of mine, 8 years of ownership so far... Time to start a thread to record progress. Have already fitted: - A14 and 60A 5speed - 1200 ute H165 diff - S13 front discs and calipers - 1200 ute lower arms, caster rods, steering arms, B310 Sunny long balljoints - modified dash loom to incorporate ute intermittent wiper harness To do: - EVERYTHING ELSE! Currently making front seat mounting cradles. Then to refurbish the Enkei Crossfevers: Discussion Thread

  17. you can leave washing soda in for as long as you like, ive had washing soda in my car for about 9 months, the whole system is clean as with clear fluid. the washing soda is of weak concentration, i wasnt sure it even did anything to my cooling system, maybe the system was minter than i thought haha.
  18. im not sure on getting a vin, but you need the vehicle to be up to wof standard, and maybe further. grab an old wof checksheet from one of your vehicles and have a look over it, it will give you a rough idea of what you need. i dont know what you mean by a basic dash, but it must not have any of the frame protruding out that could injure you or your passenger, so its best to just put the whole dash in. its gotta be a safe car no matter what, inside and out. i think with the hassle of getting it vinned and legal, you may as well just get your proper 180b sss on the road.
