  1. The Hillman Imp that was actually a Sunbeam went for $1150.00 I didn't go because its harder to be tempted that way but I heard a lot of cars passed in for good money.
  2. This weekend out by the airport, I think you need to print the catalogue to enter but I'm not sure on that. Plenty of minters by the looks and you can get a tour while you are there. Wouldn't think there would be any bargains but might be worth checking out. This place is usually only open for car clubs I think so a good chance to have a nosey. http://www.watsonsauctions.com/

    .

Na when adding turbo on Sr's you need to make a oil drain and feed. Also na S13 spec has the throttle body low like the turbos. I'd assume its na and check/clean/replace air flow meter
  4. Add more. Cut it up real good I shave it down to small bits. I have had some amazing results in the past but it can't fix the impossible, those 2600 Rovers shit blocks and all. I put about 5 in a bulldozer radiator once, it managed to clear the skifield rd for another year before needing repair.
  5. Try http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 247053.htm Used them alot and it doesn't wreck the radiator like bars leaks type stuff can. Had them block heater hoses though so have your heater on when using, a
  6. If your stopping in Christchurch and interested in the 4ws Starion let me know. Daniel
  7. Block cost $200 and the last two cost about $75 each. I also have a expensive Impwerks sport motor under the bench at work with about 250miles on it, it leaked and burnt oil and never run right, ended up re-ringing an old motor and its goes just as good I can't believe we still buy off him but some things are hard to find. As for value I'm not sure they will be worth anything ever, I sold a couple on trademe lately,(on behalf) both better than new but original, Hillman went for $4500 and the Sunbeam $5500. The current hack is a $160 trademe special + just found a 1 owner chch new one for resto
  8. Got a block off Impworks a couple of weeks back and he was throwing out alot of stuff, he is not doing to well by the looks, he is out in Woolston now. What model Imp do you have?
  9. Yes have a couple of Imps and 1 about to be restored. The rear window and side window rubbers we get from England because I've seen people try to make their own with not so good results but if you find them in NZ it would be good. The one on the window frame looks easy to replace para rubber spec. No part numbers but they list the price as 12 quid for seal on body and 11 for seal on frame, not sure on how old those prices are now though. spares@malcolmanderson.co.uk
  10. Remove the insert from the strut and take to Ripco/BNT etc Then compare to other inserts and buy closest one, I used Peugeot ones from memory but they required some mods to fit and wouldn't recommend the hassle. From other posts you want to lower it so slightly shorter inserts would be handy.
  11. I never heard of Hunters with adjustable shocks, I know Imp ones won't fit as I have some Imps and a Hunter. Hunter is leaf spring Imp have little coils. I used rear shocks from a e30 Bmw in the Hunter.
  12. What engine did you get? A fwd motor should be ok.
  13. I agree, first of the wideblock 4x4 was 4g54, early 52's and the 4g63 had narrow block. Once the diesels came out people wanted to convert to diesel, but they didn't fit the bellhousing, same with the early petrol 4x4 vans.
  14. Yip narrow block so no diesel conversion. 4G54 from Magna's etc, Cordia 4G62, Sigma 4g63, Evo motor maybe. I'm no fan of the 54 motor but its no sportscar like the yanks getting power in their Starions. (which they do better than us with the sohc 63's) The extra torque would be nice in this application. If you change the gearbox you will be looking at a different range of engines, Pajero/l200/Starion
  15. 4g54 2.6 will go good. Is a still a 4 spd? 4g63 as well of course, maybe a turbo Starion one for extreme fuel use. You need 4wd sump for these motors. Edit. 4g52's should all fit with right sump.
  16. 4g62 I think, probably an auto choke problem
  17. Alloy heads rotted away thru lack of anti freeze or poor quailty anti freeze. They were much quieter and faster than the cast iron head engines. As mentioned the 175 carb and electronic distributer from late model Hunters are the go. Keen for info on the Lancer distributer swap tho, what lancer? They have different drives don't they?
  18. There was a brand new crown wheel and pinion on trade me a couple weeks ago, keep an eye out it will return. I bid it to about $220. Thought it was cheaper than a 5speed conversion, think it was 3.7 ratio.
  19. Yep fuel pump is down under carb on passengers side unless it has been fitted with an electric pump. I wouldn't normally reply to online mechanical faults but have had a lot of Minis in lately with faultly condensors which will then cause burnt out points. If this is the case you will need a condenser from Bosch ( the crap ones are Intermotor, probably just a bad batch though)
